Don't agree. He went through a red light and should suffer whatever consequences come his way. Would you be saying the same thing if someone went through a red light and killed someone? Would the OB still have to be able to recite every law in the land to nick him?
I'm not one of those 'bloody cyclists, got no right being on the roads' types. Honest. But equally there's no reason why they shouldn't have to obey the same rules of the road as other folk. A cyclist may not be able to cause the same damage as a car, but it's still capable of causing serious injury to a pedestrian, or indeed contribute to a motorist causing very serious damage and injury as a consequence of attempting to avoid such a cyclist.
Haha, seen things like this before, coppers making up fake laws to gain information. On one that I saw 2 police officers assulted a man simply because he was stood in his garden filming them.

I,m assuming the crossing was clear at the time of the incident and the chances of someone been killed by a cyclist are pretty remote i,d of thought,just another jobsworth copper coming the cunt in my book
