Whats unbelievable about it is the home team are getting out sung espeically in a european match ? That would never happen with Celtic or any Scottish team to be fair.
Most English stadiums tend to be like libarys most the time Arsenal being the worst offenders think Stoke and Liverpool are the only fans to make a decent noise
Liverpool ? Gotta say even when I went to Anfield few times in the League and CL marathon ties , atmosphere from Liverpool fans was rubbish .... Not being funny , but it was piss poor , rendition of ' you'll never walk alone ' start & finish of the game but that was it ....

You say most English grounds are like libraries, so why is it a surprise they are being out-sung?
Been to Liverpool with Blades and Chelsea nothing to shout about. I've been to Stoke a few times too, they do sound loud now but they never made that sort of noise in the championship

The Arsenal thing is a myth, stuck with us since somebody a few years ago coined the phrase "Highbury library". Yes the ground can be quiet on occasion but so can virtually every other ground in the Premiership. I've been in St James Park before with media labelled "best fans in the world" and it's been silent.
Quote by nefcit takes an awful lot for me to be arsed singing at the match.
seen it mad at arsenal though. last time we were there some fella spilt his latte in the excitement
your lot is one of my favourites for atmosphere. And when you scored the other week everyone to a man in that stand to the left of us was up out of their seat. Can't recall the last time that happened at SB
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
I think it is the same at most grounds now ! I was in the north stand last night, don't usually go in there and got asked to sit down ! No wonder there is no atmosphere ..
In the Netherlands, the Ajax fans have a reputation for being rather quiet in the stadium, just like the fans of my team (PSV), admittedly.
However, since it's usually the 'true' supporters that go to the away games, they tend to sing a lot more than the average supporter at a home game.
Still, I have to give it to them, because they were loud all game, even for European standards, and they managed to get the crowd at OT quiet despite them going through.
There are a million reasons why English atmospheres are shite now which pretty sure everyone on here knows about. It'll happen to the rest of Europe at some point and they won't be taking piss then.
Ajax came to Celtic Park in 2001 and they were in good voice, despite being effectively out of a 2-leg tie. Although at one point in the game they did decide to fight among themselves, which was a bit of a novely. It was around the hour mark as I remember, probably just as the drugs wore off.

PSG kicked off big time at Celtic Park between themselves as well. Kop Of Boulogne versus Tigris Mystic, two different fan groups, one made up of a 'nationalist' type and the other full of arabs/african boys from Paris.. was quite a common occurrence for them at away games.
Goodison is my favourite away ground. It's a good ground to be an away fan in I think. Must be the acoustics of the old stands. Highfield Road was a bit like that too, great ground for an away fan. Worst ground I've been to, not necessarily for atmosphere but Colchester's old ground, Layer Road, was a dump. And despite quite liking Luton, The Kenny is an absolute khazi.

I was at those games & the atmosphere was electric even some of your players said it was the best atmosphere they had ever played in! I will say that sometimes the atmosphere can be poor depending on who is playing.

To be honest mate, a good atmosphere at Anfield is now not the norm. Singing along to the PA system before the match is not a good atmosphere. Even Liverpool fans are saying how crap it is nowadays unless it is a 'big game'. Same everywhere I'm afraid and like has been said we all know why it has happened.

I was at them too , and apart from when we beat you at Anfield 3-1 CL , the rest were piss poor atmosphere ... and the 3-1 was only good till we equalized ..
