Cant stand any sort of ice-cream you can put in your freezer at home, ben and jerrys, haagen daaz etc, all too overpriced and shit in texture.....Love burger king ice cream, so smooth. Ice cream van ice cream too, just screams summer time.....
OK, here's a recipe for ice cream without having to use an ice cream maker. I've used lavender to infuse the cream, which you leave in the finished product. You could use anything aromatic to infuse the cream, but something like lemon balm you'll want to sieve out of the cream before proceeding. Anyway, you'll need:
400ml cream Tablespoon of clear honey teaspoon of dried lavender (on the spice shelf at waitrose, think Bart's is the brand)
An electric whisk Cling film A loaf tin, looks like...
1. Warm the honey in a saucepan til it's quite runny. Add the lavender, stir and add the cream. Mix well.
2. Whisk untill the cream starts to thicken.
3. Line the loaf tin with the clingfilm, and pour in the cream mixture.
Leave this in the freezer overnight, and turn it out when you are ready to serve. You can slice off whatever you want, but be warned, it's addicitve.
CO-OP do a nice vanilla flavour in a small tub like Haagen Dazs (think its the "truly irresistible" range)........but my favourite is Haagen Dazs pralines n cream....delicious.
