My uncle a few weeks ago said he found an old snare drum in his loft and did i want it for my little lad ? as to not offend him i said yes , but if it got on my nerves id ebay it . Well i went to see him today and just as i was about to leave he said ive got that drum for you , and a hi hat as well !! fucking cymbals and a bleeding drum i thought !!!
Took it home and thought id just wipe the drum and stands and leave them in the garage and ebay them , trying to keep my lad off them as i hate drums !
Well listed them this eve and after an hour had a few watching about 15 and 4 bids , then got a message from someone in USA , saying that by the way id listed /described the item i basicallty didnt have a clue what i was selling , after a fw messages back and fro . i quickly removed my original listing and re listed .
this is a copy of 1 of the messages

Dear ibc270267,
Hi,
Check out this link (http://www.drumarchive.com/Premier/). I can't believe it was going to get thrown out! Those pieces are considered classics. I would venture to say they are at minimum from 1959, possibly older vintage. Download the 1959 catalogue and you'll see your pieces. They get much higher prices in the US. That snare drum would probably sell for minimum $400 stateside if it is a true Premier. It is a VERY desirable color (black pearl) and looks to be in great nick. The snare stand is probably worth 25 to 35 quid. The hi-hat stand probably 50 quid. If those cymbals are original Zyn's, then they're worth 60 to 75 quid alone (together, not separate). In the US, my conservative estimate would be $500 to $650 for the lot to the correct buyer. I've seen that snare drum advertised at vintage drum shops in the US for close to $1,000, but that’s not realistic. Again, much more valuable here than in the UK. Keep in mind that a certain individual named Ringo Star played a very similar set up and recorded a few memorable songs on a Premier drum kit around the same time.
I would relist it on eBay with pics showing the inside of the drum as well as the premier badge. Aficionados (such as myself) will be able to tell the true year from those pictures. I would also sell the cymbals separate from the hi hat stand as well as sell the snare stand separate from the drum. You'll get more for both that way. But don't break them up and sell pieces of the drum or stands. Very frowned upon and you will not get as much. Also, offer international shipping. Much more likely a US buyer will come along as it then gets advertised in the US version of EBay.
Americans may act like utter wanks in groups but as individuals I'm convinced they're the most charming out there. Fair play to the bloke. Reckon you owe your uncle a few pints and all!

AGree. In fairness, most nationalities are pains is a group. I've always found yanks to be really friendly, nice people....well, those over 25 mainly. Mexico last year was full of them and we met some absolutely sound people who were a pleasure to drink with.
AS for ebay, top marks to the lad for that info. Nice there are some genuine people on there
