Cheers Ryan....mixed response there....certainly don't want a stonewashed look....and not to sure if this guy is correct in what he's saying......"you should have no problem dying ventile, ventile looses its "waterproofness" as soon as the material is immersed in water and reacts like normal cotton after that"
There was a guy on found that done it. Took a few tries but he got there in the end. The waterproofness thing could be right since Ventile's not treated.
Just had a look at it there and tested it with water which beaded and ran right off so it's got a DWR coating....lovely jacket I might add...I must wear it more often.....dying it was just a thought as I've bought something in a similar colour in goretex which won't dye so I thought I'd look into dying the Albam but hey ho,,they ain't exactly the same colour anyway and the newbie might not even fit.
yeah i think you right sean, the weave on ventile is pretty close if that makes sense, cotton expands when meets water so it cant penetrate the fabric.
i could be talking shit
reached for the secret too soon, cried for the moon.
A lot of ventile is given a coating as without it the water does seep into the fabric which makes it expand...as the cotton is already densely woven the little bit of expansion keeps the water from penetrating the fabric but untreated ventile will not make the water bead and roll off even though it's stil in effect waterproof.
