Saying that, I'm really happy for De Matteo.
fair enough , not the most glittering football , but a team of oldish stars , few missing through suspensions , and a back four depleted with injured centre backs , a patched midfield - that wins the biggest prize in club football ... not bad I suppose !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aye they would never have won it trying to play like Barca or Bayern so as a fan obviously you want to see them grind out a result, whichever way they do it.
As the neutral though I prefer not to see that. Happy for all the Chelsea supporters on here though. Cna't imagine what it must feel like.
a couple of points Id like to make..firstly I take my hat off to chelsea for beating bayern on their home ground in the final which should never happen surley UEFA could select a stadium whose team have not qualified for the competition or even a national stadium and distribute the tickets evenly so theres no advantage to any one team..............Secondly Abromvith has spent all that money to watch that shite...what happened to chelsea palaying football...only time they had a go at bayern ,,they scored!!

Agree with Ryan. Great to win it for the Chelsea supporters but considering all the money Ambramovich has pumped in and keeps pumping in you think they could win it with a bit more class and style.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
they won it Davie and thats all that matters - players now have a Champions League medal , Arsenal players for eight years now have fuck all - that's the top and bottom of it .. Had we been at full strength then I think things would have been different , Ramires being the classic example .. I seriously couldn't give a flying fuck how we won it , simple matter is I witnessed MY team lift that Champions League Trophy last night , simply cast your mind back to when Barca last knocked you out , and beat you in the final , we were never ever gonna compete with Barca on a level playing field , but what counts to me is we are European Champions , and it feels FANTASTIC , enjoy your beautiful football at the Emirates - I would love to see Chelsea playing that kinda football , but sure most would swap all that for what we've just won ...
Agree with most of what your saying Steve. Would like the Arsenal to win Champions League can't see that for a while mind you should of won it in 2006 v Barca but the mad German keeper got sent off.
But even winning the Champions League might not be enough to get RdM the job cause Abramovivh wants his team to win it in more style and considering the amount of cash he has pumped in you should of won it before now. Defensively Chelsea really strong but attacking wise wouldn't pay money to watch them apart from Drogba and Mata.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
fair enough Davie .. but when you look at the club sides in Europe that challenge for this title , Real - Barca - Utd - Milan - Inter - Bayern , it's incredible seeing a team I remember in the old Division 2 struggling .. no matter how many millions you have , City , Real , it is still some achievement winning CL .. I personally don't believe RDM will get the job .. shame , but Roman wants the beautiful game - and titles ... difficult to get ...

He should of just bought the Arsenal instead. Then he would have had beautiful football and Trophies.

Congratulations on the win G, been a strange season for Chelsea. Around christmas time you lads were saying the team looked the worse it has for years and it would be a season to forget.
I thought you were dead and buried after the Napoli away game as you were well beaten in that game, showed some spirit to come back and win it. Also the Barca game, looked like it was all over in the Nou Camp for a brief period until Ramires chipped one in. Took some grit to get that result aswell. It's funny as you've had a lot better teams in the past that has come up short, maybe it's the team spirit this year that took it that step further?
Also what are your thoughts on John Terry getting his strip on and Torres' comments that have been reported in the media today?
cheers Ian. think what it has shown is what the team was capable off if you manage them correctly. Which AVB didn't. His brief may have included changing the old guard but fuck me, you only change them when you've better players/young players with potential to come in. Lamps was a case in point - replaced by Mereiles.....Also, anyone would know that if you intend having chelsea defence with JT in it, then a high line is the last approach you'd take given JT has no pace. Again, he had to ditch that after we'd been shown up a number of times. All he needed to do was what Wenger did. Keep the old hands and replace one by one with your own players and gradually put your own style on the team. It aint rocket science. That way, we'd have still competed presumably.
Torres? well, I honestly can't see his gripe. Is there anyone that thinks he should have started instead of Drogba? Not any pundit from the various media outlets I've read. And given the players at his disposal, Robbie was always gonna play 4-5-1 particularly in munich when they'd Riberi and Robbin on the flanks. So in all, can see how he's frustrated yes, but his argument works a lot better if the tactics didn't work...which they did. As for the penalties....who knows. Did I fancy Torres to score? not sure. But if he did, then not sure why he didn't get taking one. Mata didn't look the most convinced taker. I think Torres is probably more worried about drogba getting another 2 years tbh. That's the underlying thing.
JT? already answered on the JT tribute thread....

Wish we had Didier Drogba. When the big games comes along he performs.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
He's likes the big games mate probably the only Chelsea player I knew would score. no way he would let anyone else steal the limelight

Looks like he's going to China. Fair play. HE'll leave on the ultimate high. And get 400k a week in China with a full set of medals in his pocket. Doubt we'll get someone of his ability again in the near future

I always knew Drogba would score some goals in his career after he run our defence ragged in the Uefa Cup semi back in 2004. He was tremendous in the away game.
