One of the women my mother in law works with said this during last poppy appeal. Said she'd noticed a lot of people wearing poppies and said 'I wonder what they're for? Do you think it's for some charity?' - Wasnt taking the piss either. I'd like to point out shes in her 50s and British. What the fuck has she been doing every november for the past half decade?!
I had a couple of colleagues over from Germany this time last year. They asked the same question - "what are those poppies all about" - so I explained it to them.
It got me wondering wether they have any sort of rememberance of the fallen or an equivalent to the British Legion? Or is it something that they just don't discuss?
