What's the song(s) you would call Epic? or Epic to you perhaps? example, Bohemian Rhapsody would probably be accepted as an epic tune. For me, a couple of mine would be Rainbow - Stargazer. I know there aren't many metal heads on here but this track is a sublime piece of heavy rock from a seminal album (Rainbow Rising). Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio combine for an absolute blockbuster of a track.
A more known one would be I am the Resurrection - The Stone Roses. The lyrics, the extended play, I just always loved everything about this track. As much as I love the Stone Roses (in my top 5 favourite bands), this track just stood above their others for me. "You're a no-one, nowhere washed-up baby who'd look better dead".........
so what's yours, y'all?
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
C'mon lads, this thread is not worth much without youtube links and a few words..
Band of Horses - The Funeral has definitely got the sound of an epic song in my opinion. I listened a lot to it a few years back but have grown tired of it. But it definitely falls under the category of "epic songs" in my opinion. Voted 67th on Pitchforks list of best songs of the 00s.
The category of the prosumer commodity does not signify a democratization of the media towards participatory systems, but the total commodification of human creativity
some crackers listed so far - you've tapped right into it. Bitter Sweet Symphony and Final Countdown are great examples. Doesn't matter necessarily if you like the group or track although no doubt we'll tend to post those we do like moreso but you can put hands up when you hear an Epic track and say "yeah, that's it".
And Come Together - that would be on my list of Epics. 12 inch version. Unbelievable. Brings it all flooding back to me - like the De Lorean has transported me back to 1989/90....... :-( I'll be searching out those listed I haven't heard (Band of Horses, etc....) for a listen.
I'll throw in Johnny Cash and Hurt. So many reasons why I think it's Epic. His last tune, the lyrics, he's dying, his always instantly reckonisable vocal, taking a nine inch nails song for a country singer and watching that haunting video of it. What an Epic way to check out. The mans a legend.

Funny you mention Rainbow actually (Stargazer/Rainbow Rising).
Older brother of mine was massively into them back then, feeding out from Blackmore/Deep Purple I think. Very very different band to the "I Surrender" bollocks a lot of people would know them from.
I went to see the re-formed DP @ Knebworth with them, mid 80s I think. They were never my thing but I wasn't going to turn down a piss-up on that scale.
This ones gonna hurt, due to the fact the lead singer was born and bred in West Brom, just two street's from me, but went on to support them cunt's up the road.

they were indeed mate. Rainbow Rising, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Long Live Rock n Roll are 3 super albums where him and Dio combined brilliantly. Rising remains one of THE definitive Heavy Metal/Rock albums. I swerved Deep Purple last year when they played here and allegedly the outdoor venue did them little favours. Didn't mind Gillan but he was no Dio :-)

The gems in the eye shine in the most irrelevant places but then again in the relevant impartially.
Think somebody already mentioned this one but they did not put up a video so here it is with Keith Moon on fine form & arguably the best rock drummer ever
