Excuse me querying this but am i right in thinking a host server with loads of space etc cost us around £70 a year???? So say each member on osti archive forum pays £2 a month there are 500 members thats £1000 a month .......who the fuck is hosting it Bill Gates

It costs us to set up hosting with blue host £75 for the year and then cost of buying domain name, This includes lots of options and is more than enough for our needs and more. We originally paid xobor £7 quid a month for offhandclothing.com and hosting an ad free forum, which imo is well worth it, I have been paying this and have no qualms, Take into consideration of the printing of newsletters and sending to each on database then costs per month are in excess of £200. Its not easy and very time consuming, but with the passion so far I certainly dont mind shelling out, At the end of the day you get out what you put in.
i canny see many folk paying even 2 quid tbh ,, but if mavv put up a thread about , we need say 120 quid a year tae keep the place going , i know id pay up ,, the same as on here
IF YOU WANT A PICTURE OF THE FUTURE, IMAGINE A BOOT STAMPING ON A HUMAN FACE ---FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im sure they will be transparent about there costs,i presume there are a few hidden costs but a donation scheme is sh1te imo your in or your out,if you take subs you have to answer to the troops and that would be a headache I feel, I wouldnt mind stomping up a bit tbh but most would then expect a service, imagine the moans when the server goes down on a friday.

The people on here and other places put a lot of time and effort into it. I don't see why they should also be out of pocket and I am sure everyone would agree with this. I f I was asked to pay a subscriptiopn it wouldn't be a problem at all.
Well you know now that the subscription is set at £10 per member per year. Totally voluntary, If you pay you are in the subscriber group if you don't you stay a member but will have a limited forum after the 25th february. I think £10 is not much PER YEAR to ask for contributions.
The forum has 720 members now but still has about 130 with 0 posts. We do not expect to get even half the members paying subs..But time will tell.
Majority of money is going towards a quarterely prize draw for the subscribers. Looking at moment with the amount of subscribers the first draw to take place in March will have a 1st prize of a approx £350 voucher for a online shop of your choice. 2nd prize more than likely a £100 voucher and a 3rd prize of a polo shirt and 4th of a t-shirt....This is where most of the money is going. The rest of money is held back to help any costs we incure running the forum.
As you know put alot of effort into the forum and spend a hell of amount of time on it but I have never made a penny from any forum i have worked on been admin on etc... ( well one thing i got my found_nyc x ma.strum jacket paid by Gene for me ) which is back at manufacturers at moment getting a new lampo fitted.
Also you can still subscribe after the 25th of february but will be exempt from the first draw but will go into the other 3 over the year...
I'm being completely honest here and saying it how I see it but £10 a year from 720 lads is £7500, 7.5k, and even if it is halved thats still £3600, great money spinner if that's your thing, people charging lad's for a forum is rediculous imho, if you cover £200 per year for the running of the board from members I would say fair enough
I've no problem paying the £10 and in fairness, I think Gordy and Phil have put a lot of time in particularly in the transition from FNYC to now. Don't think I'd have been arsed if I was them so fair play to the lads. The marketplace and a 'heads up' on certain things will always cover that the £10 easily so it's still well advantageous to pay a £10. I will say this though. Some fucking tossers have appeared what looks like during the cutover to the new forum. The usual suspects - either stupid kids or keyboard warriors but I really can't be arsed with that anymore. Fuckin sky generation cunts who'd shit their pants if they came face to face with anyone at a forum meet FFS....dickheads.
maybe I'm getting old..... rant over.....:-)

fair play to the lads running the site trying to cover their expenses but not sure I like the idea of paying to post on an internet forum. Didnt mind so much with found becuase you had the art checker, busy marketplace & the blog etc but aside from a contest every now and then cant really see what id be getting for my money that i cant get on numerous other free forums like this one. Suppose im just a tight c*nt...
if people dont want to subscribe dont simple, dont moan when you cant view certain areas, ffs its a tenner over a year with prizes to be won, lads dont think twice to spunk upto or over a grand on a jacket.
