Final Value Fees. The thing we all hate - I hope anyway.
I have been reading into it just now as I feel 10% for everything I am selling is ridiculous. I am selling something for £250 they take £25 and then PayPal help themselves to a cheeky tenner as well.
It says they only charge 10% up until £40. Then what do they charge? Because I am getting charged 10% no matter what my final value is. Am I wrong in thinking that after £40 you should be getting charged less than 10%?
There seriously needs to be an alternative whether it be bespoke to a persons sale/buying needs, but the scope and profit margin cant be competed againest surely, The thing is its now part of peoples lives they just roll with it....

I've only recently started selling on ebay. And that's via OH member - Eddie Fiola's account. The fees when added to ebay owned Paypal's fee are eye watering. But they have the monopoly. There used to be a rival in QXL (I think that was what it was called) but ebay won out. I would imagine the costs of setting up a rival these days would make it a non-starter.
I let my g/f sister do mine but ask her for what i want for it so she can make a couple of quid on top for herself and the the little one and it is pennies she makes..... i give her a piece the other day and said i want £175.... Sold for £225+25.50 shipping to australia int.signed for... cost £29.30 to post £3.80 loss on postage she told me final value fees were £14.49 then 87p for the advert and then paypal took £9.97 .... so out of £225 she lost £29.13 so leaving her with £20.87 profit then also she doesn`t drive and get a bus day rider into town £3.20 so she roughly ends up with £15 on a £50 mark up more hassle than its worth imo !!! cant understand why they need the fees so high, well i can its just another greedy company making profit !!
It's hard work selling... The amount of piss takers who know you can't leave negative feedback is mind-blowing...But with maximum postage charges ( 4 quid to pack and post a jacket?!) and final value and paypal fees it's not really worth it. I see it the way bootfairs went... Started off really good, somewhere you could have a mooch round and pick up some bargains... Then turned into a dayglo plastic free for all with shit mobile phone accessories and buy it now from Romania tat...

the postage thing is a joke mate. sent out three pairs of trainers today - cost me a little over £18, so I (the seller) am meant to stump up £3 to send this stuff? Know it's not a massive amount but it's the principle. Having said that ebay is still the best, if only, place to reach a decent market. Its a bastard it's going down hill but what can you do.

I sell a lot on ebay - and it is eye watering to think about how much money they are making...
I activly encourage people paying outside the bay as much as I can and view it as simply placing an add for little more than a pound - do lots of personal ebaying on a sunday, free listings.
In short - there fucking greedy robbing cunt fuckers...
