Prefer to think of him as the world class player he was rather than the train wreck of a man who managed sheffield united for a disastourous season, either way get well soon robbo.
really sad to hear this. True footballing star of my generation. A general on the park, played until he physically couldn't, some engine, real man who commanded respect wherever he was. Had the pleasure of meeting him in 86 when I was on trials there and he was an absolute gent - humble fella given he was one of the best in Europe then, almost to the point of shy at times. Then again, most people probably seemed shy in Norman Whitesides company (he was there too).
Fuck you Cancer
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."
Remember him staggering out the Star & Garter on West Brom high street when he played for us. Proper man's man and a gent, not up his own arse like today's Prima Donna's.

no mate. We were on the last day of our trials with Utd - me and another lad from Lisburn. I was only 14 at the time. We were at The Cliff and Whiteside sent for us when he heard we were NI boys. Robbo was up in the physios room with him. We were there about an hour with them - chatting etc....Robson was really quiet and almost shy. Whiteside wound him up constantly but he took it in great humour (twas obvious they were good pals). When I think of how many big time charlie players I've met and then you meet Bryan Robson of all players - and he's as humble as fuck. Immense respect from me and it made a big impression on a couple of 14 year olds from the backwater of Belfast.

aye T. And Norwich. My claim to fame - scored at Hat-trick at The Cliff in front of Fergie. But think the cunt signed some other kid called Giggs - not sure what happened to him.....
as an aside- actually played against Giggs at Old Trafford for Belfast School v Salford Schools. Still have the match program somewhere. Ryan Wilson he was then. We won 1-0

I kissed Robson on the pitch when he was manager at WBA, we lost , they stayed up and sent SFC down. He looked a bit shell-shocked. Can't say I blame him.
Always liked him as a player, 100% everytime.Fingers crossed he beats this bastard
cancer will not stop Robson, he'll fooking eat the cunt, shit the cunt out all while sat on a bar stool with a dislocated shoulder....hard as nails!! good luck CM!

Great little story that. Whiteside was some character, his book is an excellent read.
