Anyone on here do it? Looking to downsize and will be renting for over the summer etc.
Seen one near the city centre, a studio apartment and is perfectly situated but on the small side. Still a good balcony space perfect for parties......
I rent a flat for when I am studying in Edinburgh.
Most of Europe rent their homes/appartments. Britain is the only nation here that is obsessed owning their own property - I see it as a good thing though!
Rented many an apartment in my time, used to live in a lovely city centre one with mezzanine over into dining room, spiral stairs the works, Lived in quite a few but get pretty shit after novelty wears off, lift fucked, climbing stairs etc, astronomical parking charges. even been known to pay £350 a night for penthouse overlooking the Lowery with sliding walls, All glass loft space, the bolloxs...

What's the average cost Per month in Edinburgh mate?
Would love the old top floor industrial metal lift access straight into living space apartment, prob renovate from a office space, Which i hope will one day will find, all open plan and out the fucking way.....
I'm wondering whether or not I should back to Copenhagen, the prices here in London are crazy, looking at minimum £500 a month for a room in some shitty flat somewhere. Living in student halls near Old St. at the moment, £108 a week but would turn crazy if I stayed here much longer. Hopefully I'll find something good, otherwise I'll go back to Copenhagen and find a two-bedroom with a balcony in the city centre for £600!

Looked at a place a while a go, £400 month big long corridor with windows all down one side, commercial but with potential to make into living space, only problem was stairs were on the outside of the building and was high, recently looked at an old station house built on top of viaduct arches, with windows in the garden wall, where the outhouse was, with views over sheffield and just on edge of city centre, there is stuff out there if you keep em peeled

Most people pay between £350-£450 that I know! But if it is a one bedroom you are having on your own, a nice central single bedroom apartment will be about £500 a month.

Your not wrong there mate. I got lucky a while back and had a bedsit in Whitechapel for about £115 a week inc. bills, sadly the lease was only short term. Back with the family at the moment which is handy for work but will be moving back to London when my contract runs out. Looking at £500 a months to live with 3/4 other people somewhere like Lambeth, really not an ideal situation.
Surprised rent in Edinburgh is so high, know people who pay under £300 a month - then again they live in places like Craigmillar, and Niddrie!

Government are just about to make it stupidly easy to turn commercial property into resi, so expect prices of these places to do well in the near future.
I used to love living in the city. Had some right pads. Could only do it for amfew years mind
Phil the place i talking about is opposite the royal victoria hotel, and looks over the quays, on top of the arches, gain access behind parkway, have a look sometime, a developers dream imo
Sound mate I'll have a butchers some time. Used to go kayaking round there so know it fairly well. Shame that area never really took off as had a lot of potential, useless council, the flats in the quayside are well smart
I pay £600 for one just out of the centre in Manchester. Two bed, so £300 a month. Moving out this June, and looking for somewhere else. Fancy Edinburgh actually - any good?

Sounds like a pretty good deal that mate. The easiest way is to find something is through friends I reckon, gumtree etc takes weeks and you're most likely to end up with some idiot. I'm not sure I could move in with some complete stranger. I've got the possibility of moving into a house in Holloway for around £400 a month which is not too bad. It's been quite eye-opening to move over here. Back in Denmark most people move out when they're 18-19, earn £15 an hour, get paid for going to uni and live in a nice flat somewhere central. Over here everyone in my uni class is in massive debt and living with their parents. The people I know over here who lives on their own have got like £200-250 to spend every month after they've paid the bills and all that.
