I never thought about it before but if any rumours popped up of them reforming I always just assumed it would be a tour. I hope they don't release an album.
Not sure if it'd be a success. As much as I love the Stone Roses I can't really see it being good.

There was a big splash in Mojo or uncut or something a while back - app. Brown, Manni and Wrenni hook up now and then but Squire and Brown have still not talked. Although Squire sent Brown a box of maltesers when he was in nick - an old child hood gift they gave to each other.
its hard to overstate just how shit spike island was. ace 1st lp but it sounds really dated now, few good uns on an otherwise terrible 2nd. browns first 3 solo LPs are ace, with music of the speheres, for me, equal or certainly close to the first roses one
I wold love the chance to see them as i wasnt around when they were the first time around, but as someone said above, they may not be half as good as they once was and i'd rather listen to their older stuff which i must say is absolutley brilliant, then listen to some now music by them which isn't half as good.
From everything I've read about them over the last 15 or so years Ian Brown and John Squire hate each other so it would be a real about turn for them to patch things up . With the royalties they must still get from the Stone Roses I doubt they'd need the money and they are all doing they're own thing. I still listen to both of their albums and personally I don't think they are dated at all. I never got round to seeing the Stone Roses live but have seen Ian Brown a few times and although his studio work is fantastic and easily on a par with anything the Roses did, he's not good live but the atmosphere is always electric at the gigs.
Pretty glad it's not happening to be honest. Would be nice to think that two former mates had found it in their heads to forgive and forget though. Too many good times in the past to be angry forever.
I do not agree that their debut sounds dated. Much stuff from back then like the Mondays, Housemartins etc sounds a bit dated (although it is still absolutely fucking brilliant), but to me the Stone Roses debut is a timeless record that still sounds highly relevant and funky today, in fact better and funkier than almost everything that is being released.
I'm glad that they're not reuniting, but it would be great if Squire and Brown had burried the hatchet. It's typical the sun to use a funeral and twist it into something like this, can understand why Mani is pissed.

The thing is mate, I don't think The Roses get royalties from the first album and singles before then, they have been royally screwed over the years by managers and record labels.
nefc - That is the first time I've ever heard anyone say The Stone Roses album sounds dated. Interesting.
Not the songs, although they're not exactly ground breaking but are just great tunes, its the production. Really muddy sounding.
