The past couple of years I've upped my game a touch into photography, nothing special but as I've moved slowly away from football other interests crop up and I have really got into this but I'm no expert when it come's to camera's, I bought the Nikon s8000 when it come out as to start with it was great, auto pop up flash, 10x zoom, wide angle, great detail on close up shots with image stabiliser but it just feel's like a normal camera now if that makes sense and I want something a bit more that I can experiment with, the other thing is the pop up flash on my Nikon is mental its like a Japanese tourist's dream, it scare's/blinds the kids when I take photos in the evening/night's

Ok cheers Stu', he'll probably reply when he see's it.
1985 yeah I was looking at the Nikon & Canon dslr efforts but I'm just a bit lost with it all as when you read so many reviews it just seems to blurr into 1
i have a fish eye converter lens i will sell you that will fit your nikon if you like. heaps cheaper than a new camera and opens a new door of experiment?
How does that fit onto my camera then Matt ? as it's an automatic the s8000 it just pops out when I turn it on......
Plus the flash is doing my head in when I take photo's, it just illuminates the picture and I don't want that, looking for a more natural photo/look, I've tried keeping my finger over the pop up flash but it affects the picture then.
I've always used Canon. Currently own the 2Ti DSLR
Recommend it highly. Depending on what you want you can always step up to the 60D or 7D.
Would also recommend the 50mm 1.8 lens as one of your first purchases. Cheap and takes beautiful portraits, close ups.
Cheers Nuno, your the seventh person to rate the Canon's so I'll have a browse about the shops at them and then price them up online cheers mate.
Mac I think I'll probably just sell the Nikon now as the flash is pop up so I'd have to keep putting a tissue/film over the flash each time I used it which would irritate me by the second time cheers though
I've got a pentax K-X dslr. Bit of a waste as I really need to use it more. . The best bit of advice I got when buying a DLSR was to go and try them in the shop. As soon as I picked up the Pentax compared to the others it just felt right in my hands. So that would be my advice.
As for lenses it would depend what you want to take photos of and in what setting. I generally just cut about with a Sigma 30 mm 1.4 prime lens on it as I take mostly pictures of Landscapes etc. so don't need a big zoom on it. Anything else I just use the standard Kit Lens.
Also if you want to get into it google is your best friend. There are heaps of guides and descriptions for everything from bokeh to aperture that are easy to understand and are free as well.
I'm not really sure of all this pressure, I'm never gonna lose any of my old letters, 'Cause they'll stay with me, Until I can see that I'm no one
I still hark back to the days of proper cameras with films in them, you never used to know what you were going to get until you developed the film, sometimes they were a bag of shite, other times superb
