I always toyed with the idea of getting a custom built housing done. (I like how it hides the miles of wires away )

Are they the only speakers you had hooked up, or is there some in the wall we can't see?

I havnt got mine set up at the minute, but will try and dig out some photos. (Not sure if I should though, yours makes mine look, how shall I put it.....................Shit!

I had a 1 TTX1 for scratching on for a while, very sturdy wheels indeed. (Possibly cant be beaten for scratching!)

What Eltax are they? Always fancied some decent Eltax.

The torque on the ttx1's is unreal, a beautiful deck imo, heaviest I have ever held I know that,
Not sure what my Eltax are as @ work.

Can't say I've ever really got into it in a big way myself. Did a weekly slot in a local venue, but it was more about playing interesting tunes loud for me.

IMO, CDs were a stop gap. The future's really about laptops. Got a few mates who do it, and the ability it gives you to chop and change live brings DJing ever closer to say, what Mad Professor does. Live studio.

I agree Laptops are the future, but also believe that vinyl will be here for quite a while.

Theres something so unique about playing on turntables, I cant really describe it, just the feel and cracklyness of it I suppose for me. (Makes you feel your in touch with the music, and you are actually playing with it, literally!)

And when you watch the pro's beat juggle, its fucking unbelievable.

Shaun - got the same turns (silver editions) and mixer as you. Speaker wise I had to give up on monitors (too loud for my small room/shared house) and now just play through a set of Sony speakers, no idea of the model. The sound obviously isn't the best but unless I turn the levels right up they maintain pretty good fidelity, certainly enough for spinning in my room of an evening.

Re: vinyl vs. cd vs. laptops: for me vinyl is the only format I'll use. Partly this is aesthetic and partly it's because I recognize that dj-ing is a hobby for me so having a physical product is an extension of that. I don't need to worry about carting them over the country for gigs and it's nice to have something to look. As mentioned above the feel of vinyl is unbeatable. I've toyed with cdjs but just couldn't get along with them, despite the massive range of functions and features that even midrange ones seem to offer.

2 technics 1210's that i've owned since i was 17 (im now 37!) .....pioneer djm 600 mixer.......before the daughter was born they had a room all to themselves,only thing they had to share the space with was a beer fridge

I have a shit turntable from Argos that cost pennies. I only listen to records and I know I need a better setup. What would you recommend lads?

If it's just for home/bedroom listening I'd suggest that you get down to Richer Sounds and see if they have any turntables on offer. Type of place that you're reasonably likely to get something good at a reasonable price.
