Barcelona possibly best team I've watched - Play the game the way it should be played but also win trophies. What the best British club side youve ever watched - Man Utd trble winning side, Arsenals Invincibles, Jose's Chelsea but I would have to go for the Liverpool team of the late seventies/ early eighties - Dalglish, Souness and the rest.
Who would you have paid to watch ?
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
The Liverpool team of the late 70s early 80s were indeed a great side but I wouldn't say they played 'great' football? The best footballing Liverpool side is the Barnes/Beardsley team of 1988/89. I'd also say that the United side of 1994 were better to watch than the 1999 treble-winning side. The Arsenal side of today play the game the right way but the 'Invincibles' (invincible but only in the league) were a better side.
Yeah Henry was a special talent but for me best player Ive seen in England would have to be King Kenny Dalglish. Never ever got the recognition worldwide he deserved.

Ferguson has built and rebuilt 3 or 4 different sides at United so it's hard to put a finger on which team was best - that team in 94 was incredible, especially on the counter attack with Kanchelskis bombing down the right, Giggs down the left, leaders all over the pitch in Schmichael, Bruce, Pallister, Keane, Hughes, Cantona. Shame they never quite cracked Europe.

Bergkamp?
GTBI - Dennis Bergkamp is best Arsenal player Ive seen. The non flying Dutchmans phobia one of the reasons that Arsenal team never did better in Europe. Still would stick with Dalglish - being a fellow Scot.

Always thought Glenn Hoddle never got the recognition he deserved even though he played for the Spuds. If he was Brazilian he would have been up there with the best.

They were subjected to the 'foreigner rule' though and it hit them hard. I think they might well have cracked the European cup without it. I know it applied to all teams but it really held that particular team back.

Indeed. I remember the night Barca beat them 4-0 in the Camp Nou with Schmichael looking on from the stands. United learned a lot from that particular defeat and I wouldn't rule them out coming back stronger from last night. I'm sure Ferguson relishes the task of building just one more great side. Similar to Chelsea, United need a complete new engine room. Barca have raised the bar for every other side in Europe with a template that is nigh on impossible to replicate. They are the challenge for every top side and manager in Europe right now.
the Utd team of 94 probably worried me more than any other. The flying wingers, Ince at the top of his game, solid backline, good fullbacks, Sparky and Cantona up front. They could put your lights out in 10 minutes and that's what worried me about playing them. Ironically, we did the league double over that side in 94 but they were some sight in full flow. And as has been said, leaders galore everywhere on the park. other sides, the Arsenal one with Vierra & Petit in midfieldm, the 'Arsenal back 4' and Henry up front was excellent as well. And the Pool side with Beardsley and Digger Barnes were an excellent side as well but the Utd 94 team probably scrapes it for me despite no European success. I should also be noted that that was the early days of CL and Fergie was learning how to deal with both league and CL campaigns nevermind the foreigner rule as well so it wasn't solely down to the capability of the team that they didn't get the success in europe.

Sheffield Wednesday circa 92/93....finished 3rd in the top flight after being promoted from the old second division....still could have won it on the last game of the season...unthinkable these days
Everton in 1985 were untouchable. And how they lost those 85 and 86 cup finals I still don't know. As for united playing being handicapped by the foreigners rule in Europe, all teams were.
there were quite a few from that era, I d put Forest up there as well, they played some fantastic football in their league and European winning seasons, us as well for 5 years. As for tthe best Premier player, I d go for Klinsman superb to watch on and off the ball..
Ino its kinda biased here, but Martin O'Neil worked wonders with our team. We got promoted and ended up finishing 6th in the league, lost in the final of a league cup, then won it the previous year. We didn't really spend a lot of money either. That was a great achieve for us. Its nothing as pretty as Arsenal or Barca, but we worked hard and were a unit.
I probably should have added, from a personal perspective, whilst our best side for me was Mourinhos 2005 team, the most enjoyable to watch was probably the late 90's team (although the nevin,Dixon,Speedie team from mid 80's was good as well) but that 90's team with Zola, Wise, Petrescu, judas Poyet, De Matteo, Desailly et al played some superb football at times. Remember us going 3-0 against Figos Barca at SB in the first half hour in the CL Q-F . Oh how we roared......

From a personal maybe biased point of view! i would say the Liverpool side of 1988. Tom Finney described the 5 - 0 win over Nottingham Forest as "the finest exhibition of attacking football ever seen" & better than Brazil"
That I've seen United's treble winning team were up there - great players throughout and a real unit. In Scotland I can't see beyond Celtics team around 2001/2002, some cracking players and very easy on the eye football.
