Zitat von RhysSo far this summer has made me realise how small time the old firm are. Rangers begging for players in the press was pretty funny.
I wouldn't say they were small time. Horrible cunts yes but small time no. Danns has went to leicster for the cash and the red leicster cheese not the size of the club. As much as I am loath to admit it the old firm are far bigger in the size of their support than leicster or most other english teams ever will be.
Any way any coventry fans care to give their opinions on Isaac Osbourne?
I'm not really sure of all this pressure, I'm never gonna lose any of my old letters, 'Cause they'll stay with me, Until I can see that I'm no one
Rhys, we're spending big, we want promotion this season. Our starting 11 will be the best in the division, without a doubt. Still need about 4 more players though, maybe a couple will be on a loan.
I'm pleased with Svens buys so far, when Middlesbrough spent a lot of money, they didn't really buy proven Championship talent, whereas we've bought Danns, Schmeichel, Mills, Peilter, Nugent and St Ledger. 5/6 of these are proven at Championship level, other was a star player in league 1 last year. Add to that we're getting the South African LB, who plays for the Israel champions in the champs league. Cardiff also spent big on wages, but they always seemed to bottle it, and their defence/goalkeeper was a shambles at times, if they were better, they would have finished 2nd last season.

This season looks great.
Looking promising, but we're missing two decent wingers and one more striker (Nicky Maynard?)
I like Leicester and Sven so hope you do alright. We were a mess last year and I hope the same doesn't happen to your lot. MM seems to bringing in the right type of players and getting rid of the high wages/egos. Rebuilding season this season and I'm happy to not be contending and all the stress that goes with it.
Coops, smalltime was in regards to the manager begging in a newspaper, for a player to pick them over Cardiff.
Getting fuckin fed up with the Cesc Fabregas saga again. Barca need to stump up or shut up. Read this last night and thought it made alot of sense.
The True Value of Cesc Fabregas.
This is not news. This is not realistic. What it is, however, is an argument, and if you will care to join me, you might find this trail of thought interesting.
What would you pay for Xavi? Seriously. Have a go. One of the best central midfielders in the world, he has the vision of an eagle and can pass the ball through an eye of a needle. About £40m do you reckon? That’s only half that of what Cristiano Ronaldo cost, but only £6.5m less than Zidane cost at his peak. But they were both better goal-scorers. Best say £35m just to be safe. But wait, he’s 31. How many years would you say he has left of his prime? Two, maybe three if you’re lucky. Well that’s got to halve it, at least. £17.5m? But Henry was sold to Barcelona for £1m less and he was two years younger than Xavi is now? To be on the safe side shall we say £15m. Imagine offering Barcelona £15m for Xavi? You’d be laughed at!
Similarly what would you pay for Cesc Fabregas? At 24 years old, he’s ripe for selling; he is experienced enough to no longer be deemed raw potential, but young enough to be in the eve of his prime. So he’d be valued on ability alone. I suppose it boils down to is; is he as good as Xavi? You bet he is!
Over the last six seasons combined, Fabregas has contributed to 45 more goals (by scoring or assisting) than his Spanish team mate. With these statistics, I do wonder why Xavi remains ahead of Fabregas in the Spanish national team. Similarly, I’m sure that should Cesc return to Barcelona, he will be behind Xavi in Barcelona’s starting line-up. That’s one reason why they won’t pay the full value for Fabregas; who would pay £40m for a player to warm the bench?
This transfer saga has rumbled on for over 18 months. Cesc’s “speculated” return to the Catalan homeland seems to have been elevated to some kind of prophecy, where it sits in the room of Prophecies in the Ministry of Magic next to the one about Harry Potter and Voldemort… or something like that.
And there lies the problem. Barcelona are under the impression that they own Fabregas; his return is a thing of fairy-tales, existing outside of business. Well Barcelona don’t own him, he is contracted to Arsenal Football Club for years to come. We should only let him leave if they pay us respectable compensation. £40m probably is about right.
The Catalan club better get a move on. If we don’t sell Cesc soon the Champions League qualifier will be upon us, and Arsenal can’t afford to miss out on the revenue that Europe’s elite competition brings. It is imperative that Arsenal qualify, so if Fabregas is still here I would play him and let Barcelona suffer if he’s cup tied. We must look out for our interests, and not be emotionally blackmailed by Barcelona and their player’s public comments.
What I’m trying to get at is that as good a Xavi is, Cesc is more valuable because of his age as well as being far more productive. And all Barca’s “wear and tear” and “we want Cesc home” rubbish should not change the fact that he is a £40m player and we should accept nothing less (or £25m plus Xavi, but I’m not fussy).
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions
Be honest if given the chance would you take Xavi in part-ex?
Fabregas is good, but for me he ain't in the same league............cue smart arses............as Xavi. Xavi is able to control a game and slice open defences with his passing ability. Fabregas has 'the potential' of greatness but to to me he is a fabrication of the British media.

Probably right to a point T. But hardly anybody outside Spain were speaking about Xavi as one of the best when he was 23/24 - its only in the last four or five years hes getting the recognition as one of the Worlds best - rightly deserved. Coincides with Barca dominating. Put Cesc in there and given a couple of seasons he would be running the show IMO.

As good as Fabregas is, and he's a brilliant footballer, Xavi is in a league of his own.
But when it comes to valuing the player, 40m in todays market seems about right. Fuck knows why Barca don't just stump up the extra couple of mil, they can hardly be short of a few bob.
