Anyone do it? Me and a mate are looking to go either away for a weekend or just a day out camping and fishing. Looking for a bit of advice.
Obviously I've googled it but there's a lot of information looking for some first hand info.
Main issue is the equipment, there's loads of sets but they just look shite to be honest, then I go to buy a few weights/bobbers and the whole thing can come to almost £50, bit much to spend on something i might use once. So is there any equipment I shouldn't bother with? What are the essentials basically and the best way to get them, a kit or buy stuff individually?
you need two rods ideally and bite alarms, which cost far over 50 pounds mate. Also if you camping you'll need a tent which can be very pricey. Bascially, your not going fishing for 50 quid

You going Carp fishing then, R?
I'm going fish fishing. I have no idea what kind of fish Like i said absolute beginner so don't have the first clue where to start.
completely depends on what sort of fishing you are doing. I used to do pier fishing when I was young and all the gear for that cost less than 50 quid. big brother goes fly fishing and some of his gear runs into the 100s.
I'm not really sure of all this pressure, I'm never gonna lose any of my old letters, 'Cause they'll stay with me, Until I can see that I'm no one
If it's just general course fishing you wouldn't need bait alarms. At it's most basic - A rod, reel, floats, shot, hooks, bait and a camping chair I would reckon.

Edit - And a licence.
I wasn't that far off!
Here is the basic tackle needed: rod, reel, line, floats, split shot, hooks and bait.

Cheers DW, we still need to get floats, weights and bait. There's so much to choose from though it's hard to tell what stuff is required.
I'm at sixes and sevens about which Ryan I've responded to! I didn't clock we had Ryan and Ryan 2.0 (798). Apologies if my posts seem at cross purposes.
I did it once when I was around 13, never caught anything, that was my last time river fishing, although I have been deep(ish) sea fishing in Barbados a couple of times..
Zitat von coopy100it depends where in the UK you are doing it. if it is in jockland then it won't br.coarse fishing.
Will most likely be in the central belt.
And aye cheers for the heads up on the tent situation Ryan.
well you ain't going to need a coarse fishing kit en. simple rod, reel, bait and or spinners. best bet is to go to a tackle shop and tell em where you are going and what you are fishing and what your budget is and they should tell you what you need.
