I've come to the conclusion that the majority of buyers on eBay are just skint clueless chancers.
Quite often, in fact nearly every time i list something I'll have some peasant message me asking if I'll sell it at an unthinkable price. A Mille Miglia for £50 when it's already on £100? Reeeeallly!? A pair of Adidas Stockholm for £40? A Duluth pack for £30? A classic being a brand new iPhone 3GS for £100 "to be paid right now". Cheeky cunt!
Who the fuck are these clowns!? Does anyone else get this?
All manner of dicks on there mate. Worst I've had was a kid buying a Barbour off me, he won it for (I think) around £80 but then messaged me to say that his dad was bidding for him and had gone too high and would I accept £50. Not being funny but did he really expect me to say yes? Also had messages off parents saying their kids were bidding and that I shouldn't have accepted them (how the fuck was I to know!?). Of course there's also the classic "not got the cash right now, can you hold it for a week" - does that ever work?
I've not exactly been a prolific seller on ebay, but over the decade-or-so of using it I've not had a bad experience. It's the fees that put me off selling. Would rather save the hassle and give the gear to charity
Quote by SpenceNever sold anything on Ebay as I can't be doing with the hassle. Just full of chancers, mind you I've never had a bad experience buying.
i flogged a synth for £100. before it went got an email off some lad offering me £50. wheni said i had an offer of £100 he said id be paying £40 in fees.
If they don't pay after 2 full days I'll reward the auction to the nearest bidder, especially when they have a lot of decent feedback. I got a negative feedback once because it wasn't the shade of grey he anticipated, took the pic in every light, fuckin wankers.
Because of this i'm fed up with ebay as a seller. Always the same problems ... best thing i've ever had was a guy who told me it would be to hot for him to leave the house at the moment, but it would colder at the end of the week so he could go to the bank on friday and send me the money. Item ended on sunday! Told him to fuck off and sold the item to someone else via the second chance offer.

It does depend a lot on what you're selling, buy yeah if it's clothes or trainers, the latter especially, it just seems to be open season for idiots. The number of hard luck stories I've heard as justification for getting a pair of vintage trainers at a knock down price. They're a luxury item not food FFS, so pay the price or f*** off.

Where did he live? Mars?
Russia I think it was when they had their record breaking summer but none can tell he would not be able to transfer a few funds on his paypal account because of the summer-heat.
I stopped selling clothes on ebay cos of the c****s ,always saying they never recieved it,total bollox i always got the stuff i ordered and then sent everything recorded then people complained to ebay and the c****s backed them up,if you dont wana pay it dont bid ffs,so gave it up ,,shame cos got some real bargains and sold abit but for me its done.....
Think it's ok myself, worst is people who pull item before the end of the sale.
Also I bought a jacket off ebay that even when I had paid was still being touted round on a clothing site, possibly even this one! Good and bad everywhere....
Idiots who message you 5 mins before the auction ends asking for measurements or postage costs to some country you have no intention of sending to. Prople who win things and then claim they're damaged. But are unable to send you photo's of the damage when ask them for proof. Messages sent in text speak.

Nowt wrong with that. If someone offers me a decent BIN price for something, I'll pull the auction. Or if I've got no bids and umpteen watchers on something near the end of an auction, I'll pull it rather than let the item go for peanuts.
Been selling quite a few jackets and trainers recently. And have to agree it is a never ending, ceaseless barrage of idiotic questions and offers.
I put most things up at a BIN with offers and set it to reject all offers below what you are really willing to accept. Saves you having to reject them yourself.
To be fair though I have sold most of the stuff I wanted and even shifted some pieces for reasonable money, particularly considering the financial climate.

Disagree, put your starting price at lowest you want to sell for.
