Tupac Shakur - All Eyez On Me Nirvana - Nevermind The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses The Strokes - Is This It Television - Marquee Moon The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Abba - Arrival Arcade Fire - The Neon Bible Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon The Doors - LA Woman The Smiths - Meat Is Murder Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Stone Roses one I completely disagree with, and the guy from Kooks slating the beach boys? P-lease.

Don't agree with some of the stuff about 'All Eyez On Me'. Firstly, Dre didn't produce majority of the album and also 2pac had a lot of say. True, BIG had a better flow but 2pac had a wider range of topics to talk about
This over/underrated business surely depends on who your talking to. An album may be overrated in the music press but underrated on a particular forum or whatever.
From that list I laughed at "The Roses make me think of kids older than me swaggering around with bowl haircuts and affecting Manchester accents. It makes my skin crawl. And all their fans are so smug: "Oh, you don't understand it." - know a lad just like that! I like the group and the album but I never really play it all the way through. IMO it's an easy album for some folk name drop and attach themselves to a ladish culture - not really phrased that right maybe someone knows what I mean. It's a good album with some great tracks but theres a lot better out there.
Kind of agreed with what was said about Marquee Moon too, I really WANT to love that album. But in reality, I just love about 10 minutes of it (which is fantastic) but the rest passes me by.
Nevermind is head and shoulders above the other two Nirvana albums, it's just an easy target because of its popularity. Teen Spirit, Breed, Come as You Are, Territorial Pissings etc. Not a weak track on there!
Couple of my own contributions:
Rubber Soul. IMO the most overrated album of all time. Get annoyed with the first note of Drive My Car then theres toss like The Word and What Goes On (about as bad as it got for them). Will say If I Needed Someone is one of my Beatles favourites mind. Never really got the appeal of Revolver or Abbey Road either.
Strangeways Here We Come... Morrissey and Marrs favourite I think? Always thought it was a bit of a disjointed album, weakest of the lot IMO.

Gotta agree here, I'm mostly a fan of the earlier Beatles stuff (until Help really), but people always argue that their later releases had more substance, were more artistic etc. Obviously there's great songs on all their album, but I definitely prefer their early albums, the joy and fun they had making them is so obvious in the songs which makes them very enjoyable.
From the list I completely agree with the Arcade Fire album, I just haven't been able to get into it, I think it sounds very average, the indie-pitchfork-style that was so popular a few years back. I could listen to all Arcade Fire albums and wouldn't be able to distinguish them from each other.

Slightly agree with the All eyes on me, but only the album bit, not his slagging of Tupac. Tupac never really had one totally amazing album, whereas B.I.G's first album was fully epic... But Tupac was by far the better rapper. His flow, story telling ect... B.I.G is mostly responsible for all this current 'ohh look at me, im from the ghetto yet rapping about how much more money i have than you and driving sports cars' bullshit. Agree with The Smiths shout, my favorite band... But that album is weak.
Everything 2pac did after the first album was meh. For every great song on an album there was 4/5 filler tracks. 'All Eyez on me' would have been better if it was a single album.
'Never mind the bollocks' is a very average album. Yeah it's an important record and yes there is a couple of good songs but great album? I'm not having that.
