Earthquake here on Tuesday, Hurricane coming tomorrow through Sunday

State of emergency in Pennsylvania (my state) and New Jersey (state next to me)

Our transit system (SEPTA) trains and busses will shut down Sunday at 12:30am for the first time in history.

MTA (transit system in NYC) is shutting down Saturday at noon.

They are closing highways starting tonight in New Jersey, my in laws were forced out of their beach house this morning at 6am.

We're about 60 miles from the ocean but the hurricane is 510 miles in diameter with hurricane force winds 140 miles in diameter or 70 miles out from the eye of the storm.

Spoke to my cousin and he said that I should be fine. It is supposed to pass by the weekend, so hopefully it has gone by monday

We should be ok, not too worried about the winds as I live in a row home. The flooding is a big thing as we've had the rainest August in history already so the ground is already saturated and I'm 6 blocks from the big Delaware river.

Fingers crossed that it won't be as bad as they think, Whatever about being on your own it must be a nightmare worrying about the family and that.

I'm supposed to pick up a VW van tomorrow morning as well. At least it's higher up than my other cars if we need to leave and it seats 7

Luckily a bit higher ground than you... 6 blocks from the river is close.

Lower Manhattan residents (battery, east river) all under Mandatory evacuation. Thinks its the first time its ever happened.

I do not ever recall mass transportation being shut down and lower Manhattan evacuated.

First time for NYC and first time SEPTA shut. Also, 3rd time in history AC Casinos being shut down.
