I've just received a letter off next doors asking me to keep the music/TV down. I admit I do have my music on loud but always turn it off before 9 and have the bass turned right down which I see as reasonable. I regularly get awoken by her at the weekend when her BF goes round to shag her, so I might mention that in a reply letter
Where ever I've lived I've always had problems with the neighbours complaining about noise, anyone had problems with noisy neighbours? I'm curious to what other people think is reasonable. My opinion is loud music is alright as long as it's turned off at a reasonable hour (9PM imo).
Mine have a hot tub in the back garden which looks onto my house, they think they own the street and think what they say goes.
Anyways, they are out in the hot tub on occasions until 2-3am with the music on in their back garden, they can do what they like for me, but it has to work both ways, at the other side of us a couple have just had a baby a couple of months ago and i'd be fucking furious if it was my little 'un been awoken by their music (which is fucking shite by the way)
And then when we have the music on they come round and moan at about 8.00pm, which has caused a hell of alot of trouble between us and them as they ususally just end up getting told to fuck off.
The best one we've had is that i share my birthday on the same day as there son who's about 12-13 so i had my mates round, music on etc.., not too loud, but loud i must admit. The night was still young (it was about 10pm), the sour faced cunt (the lads mum) leaned over the fence to me and said, "can you turn he music down, you're ruining my sons birthday", Not a fucking chance was the reply.
Safe to say we dont get on with our neighbours, set of twats.
your in the wrong mate,,nobody should have tae hear noise from their neighbours.Ive got noisy neighbours, inconsiderate cunts ,you should be entitled tae peace in your own home..turn it down!

I had this trouble with a neighbour when my son was young and being woken by his loud music , i asked him many times to turn it down and one night i snapped knocked on his door and when he opened it, i pushed past him walked in and took a hammer to his set up . Next thing i know the old bill are on my knocker for it ,they nicked me for aggrivated assault and criminal damage . I was lucky in the end for some reason he did not turn up in court
All depends on you and what you find unacceptable really. I had a problem a good few years back with loud music which didn't end to well.
Thing is you come home from work tired and want to relax and all you hear is thud, thud through the wall it sends you mad and it is anti social.
Have you considered headphones as that way you can have it as loud as you want and not piss off your neighbors.
My problem was late at night when he came in pissed or off his head on some thing when I lived in a flat. Asked him nicely not to do it and he didn't listen. Ended with threats which in turn he got the Police involved and the cunt still did it. I couldn't touch him but got him back. I started playing loud music at about 8 in the morning when he was rough as fuck and later a mate of mine planted him. After that he did calm down but still was an annoying twat. He sold up after about 6 months and TBH I was glad. Sounds like you want to do the right thing but if your always getting complaints it must be you and not them.
Like I said it all depends on what you think is reasonable but if they played loud music when you didn't want it I think you would find it annoying and unreasonable. If I was you I would get some headphones or only play it when they are out. I would also inform then of this and that their shagging is also to loud but in a more diplomatic way.

It is annoying as f**k, i had a young baby and a smack head next door kept banging music out. Went round with a baseball bat, never worked...ended up phoning the old bill and grassing him up for dealing. Dont generally agree with that, but needs must. Cnut is dead now....overdose!!!
I've got my own room to play it now so I'm sound to do what I want but I used to play my music when I got in, then turn it off at half 6 and use my headphones, especially as I have 2 nippers, I think you do need to control it more if people are complaining, I've fell out several times with past neighbour's with them taking the piss and also a lorry at 5 in the morning the selfish twat so you should see it from other's view
Been lucky really, never once had a problem with my neighbours. Lived next door to a wild family a few years back, they were great, noisy as fuck like, but it just meant we could be equally so. Quite often got a cheeky CD case passed over the garden wall which was always a bonus. Best was where I was living with an ex, had a fair few do's round ours, lots of people, music, no complaints. Lady next door was a classical singing teacher, she said she didn't have a problem because she started her singing at 7 each morning so it works both ways. Thing is, her singing used to make my morning bonk incredible. Loved it!
I've actually been on the other side of it myself, I was in a flat and my neighbour downstairs had his tunes on at some mad times 4 - 6AM, and played computer games (Halo) with his TV connected to his Hi-FI so you could always hear bullets flying, I had words with him and said I didn't mind the noise but just not at stupid O'Clock. He ended up getting evicted, which I thought was a bit over the top but I can see other peoples points of view. I can see from the replies people have different views to what they see as reasonable, I think the main thing what pisses people off is the 'BOOM BOOM BOOM' (Outhere Brothers). I have my bass turned right down though so that's not an issue I don't think. The times when I turn it up loud are mostly when I'm drinking or lifting weights, maybe I should cut down on those activities
Looks like everyone is of the same opinion Squeek. I think headphones is the best thing. I had noisy inconsiderate neighbours before, a piss head old slag her piss head daughter and her 3 little stinking bastard kids. Fucking telly and music blaring all day and night. Arguing and shouting. We asked them politely on a number of occasions to turn it down but never got anywhere with them, then they got a fucking dog that barked all the time even when they were out!. Got so bad I had to stop at my Moms house when I was on nights just so I could get some sleep. I couldn't call the council otherwise I'd have to declare it when I came to sell the house so in the end I put the house up for sale and moved out after 12 months and 3 weeks. We moved to a detached as we wouldn't risk having bad neighbours again.

Kind of true, just put up some sound proofed wall boards if you wanna make a lot of noise.
There is nowt worse than a noisy neighbour. Only had one for about 6 weeks before he got kicked out by his bird for shagging a bank clerk. She was a nice bird too, she asked me to change her door locks so the coont couldn't get back in, shoulder to cry on, I changed a few things then, nice. happy days.

Everyones living siituation and neibours will be different , i always do my best to get on and have a bit of banter but you also only live once , my last house was a corner plot so only had one neigbour and he was the soundest fella ive ever met ,total respect for him and we agreed when i moved in if i needed some noise i would tell him and he would piss of round the wm club, bit of compromise goes a long way but tbh if u have always had problems you need to assess your own behavior or your communication with others , imo of course
Not a problem.with the neighbours, no bother, tbe biggest problem is some big fat pikey prick who drives about in his battered old transit in which he's soundproofed, playing the biggest shittest music going, and this can be at 1 o'clock in the morning sometimes, no respect at all, the best of it, he drives about with his top off, hes bigger than rick waller ffs!
I remember years ago when had a Dj setup in spare bedroom and playing non stop I used to crank it up and my neighbour actually had to get pissed out of his head to come round and tell me to turn it down. This was awful for me and made me feel really uneasy and guilty that a man needed to get pissed to confront me. And after I agreed and expressed my apologies he would tell me to forget it as he was been harsh. I never played loud again at that house. really did touch me it did.

that is quite sad ,, honestly ,poor man ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the polar opposite is my work mate asked his neibour tae calm down with the sounds as he had a new born wean ,, the next night the neibour did the same ,, my man kicked the door in and took a baseball bat tae his set up ,,,, the following day the naughty neibour fucked off
