The video taken by two girls that clearly see's the 2nd plane hit the tower amongst the screams and crying is one of the most upsetting things ive ever seen for sure.
I was 18 and in isolation in a hospital bed feeling close to death. And watching it all unfold live scared me shitless. I can't listen or watch the 1st hand recordings as they get to me. We will be silent at 11 and will raise a glass at dinner to those who were murdered. Lest we forget.
Also, counting my blessings as I should have been in the basement of the twin towers at the time the planes hit.
I was staying with a mate in Hoboken at the time and was due to fly to Mexico but wanted a cheap flight. The best place to get them was in the TTs so I went on the 10th Sept but there was nothing available. I was told to come back tomorrow, which I had planned to do but too much alcohol that night meant I overslept. I got up, turned the tv on, built a pipe and saw what was happening - then looked out of the window and saw the second one hit.
I was really lucky but will be thinking of those that weren't.
(I was also in that club in Bali two days before that got bombed earlier in the summer and had been in Vinyl Exchange Manchester when the bomb went off there a few years earlier - my mates reckoned that three incidents was more than co-incidence).
