Think he's a class act on the pitch myself. Last of the English street footballers. May not be at the level of Messi or Ronaldo but he is undoubtedly one of the best footballers in the world. His work rate is immense and no other English player can play between the lines as effectively as him. Got it all in my opinion.
for me, no-one comes close to Maradona (maybe Zidane but still a gap...)...and here's why. Spain 82 he was kicked to fuck by the Itai's amongst others then bounced back to carry a mediocre team to success in 86. That takes some doing. He played in Spain and Italy (unlike Pele) and carried Napoli to the Scudetto - unreal given their history and the competition in Italy. Even when on the slide, he still managed to cajole another very average Argie side to the final in 1990. Wasn't like he was surrounded by Rivelinho, Gerson, Garrinchia, etc.....when he played for the Argies (unlike Pele). Bestie on his day was immense but didn't do it over long enough for me. Cruyf was excellent but again, part of sensational Dutch & Ajax sides which made things a bit easier, unquestionably. Breaking things down, Zidane must rate very highly. I doubt France would have won the Euros or WC without him. Played and won things in italy and Spain. He'd be close to second for me. fantastic ability to find time and space. I think Messi could rank up there given the modern game is faster, fitter, etc....but for me, he'd need to either do it another team or for the Argies to win a tournament with him very prominent to come close to Maradona or Zidane.
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."

Zidane is my favourite ever play by a mile, phenomenal player. He was one of those players that you could literally sit for hours and marvel at what he could do with a football.
