Hi, PSG die hard fan, in his late 30s who's just descovered this board (late lad I know)... Happy to find this new board to share knowledge, info, bargains... May have "virtualy met" some of you on 80sCasuals board (before their usual cull).
TBH we will never take the piss with our new billionnaire status as we got founds but lost our soul, our historical home support & atmosphere. Nowadays you can't take a season ticket and choose the sector of the ground to gather with your lot. The choice is made by the club to mix families and "real fans". Better try mixing oil with water. We are french so always complaining ... you know the deal ! But these millions, these new supporters, these foreigners running my club today or a baseball team tomorrow, this new atmosphere at home... that's why we don't go to our stadium anymore. Maybe some interesting games later, surely some away matches, deffo big european fixtures abroad. Old beloved football in Paris is dead I am afraid.
I am Boulogne but we have good relationships with the Karsud (who are from the Auteuil end by the way). Situation is not that easy to explain but basically: all ultra groups are forbidden or decided to stop any activity as an association, (which was their former legal form). You're right L&S, 2 years ago before the marseille game, a clash happened Boulogne vs Auteuil. One of us got battered and died on the pavement, 50 meters from the stadium. Considering this murder, I suppose the authorities had to act big against all of us. The atmoshere we used to know is now over in our manor. Thanks to the qatari who brought millions, we managed to find good players and we should easily win our championship (last time was 17years ago!!!). A new crowd, with families, VIPs seems very delighted by the football... former ultras/real fans/casuals are desperately fighting (peacefully) to be welcome in their beloved stadium and be treated with some respect. To me the game is over, it will never be the same. A few things went way too far. During the last years, too many fans got banned here, one was shot dead by a cop, another Boulogne main face got killed by some Auteuil youth... Paris always had a look at the british culture (you will see some brit flags, english clubs scarves among our fans in the 70s) but it looks like we are now living a big change in football like you had in your country. Bloody modern football.
Sad to hear your story.. I hope for you that PSG will win the championship with the advent of the qatari, although I personally don't like when a club gets taken over by some rich guy.. i think you need to make a team of you're youth.. hopefully the qatari will invest in the youth academy and also will win the cup with the new purchases this season....
