I have a 54 plate Seat Ibiza and I'm having a problem with the passenger door.
Basically, I opened it yesterday and now it won't close at all. The latch seems to be fine, same spring/movement as the drivers side and that's working fine. The strike plate is ok too, nothing wrong with it. It isn't damaged or bent.
I tried googling it and a common cure came back saying if you both pull the handle and reset the latch at the same time it should solve it. It didn't. I've taken the door card off to see if I can get at the lock but there's another metal panel behind that with shit loads of cables/wiring harnesses and it looks a time consuming job.
Without seeing it , hard to diagnois tbh , normally itwould be a faulty lock mechanisn , try giving it a good slam ,then its a stripdown to find the fault , normally not to bad , the big plate iirc comes out as one , there may be two holes in it to unbolt the window before you remove the plate ,
As above! Remove the two rubber grommets, wind window down until bolts are visible, undo, slide glass up and secure with gaffer tape unclip wiring from inner panel, undo bolts around outside and window reg comes out attached to panel and you can see what's happening inside. Before I did that I'd get a Pozi screwdriver hold it horizontally and push it at the latch to see if the latch 'locks' as it would when hitting the striker, if it does pull handle to check it opens again ok and repeat with inner handle, if ok you now know everything ok inside door so no need to strip, adjust striker and all should be ok. If you can't get latch to 'lock' I'd give it a fuckin good spray with WD, work both handles several times and try again, if nowt works, new catch/motor assy
