Invested in one of those amazon kindle's, anyone else got one or use the function on their ipads? I think they're a great idea and save you lugging books around especially if you have a few on the go at once, only downside I can see is the books arent much cheaper and I thought they would be as your not paying for materials.
I have one and they are ok. I prefer reading books, but just thought I'd move with the times. Ideal fro holiday as I usually take a load of books, normally in my hand luggage as they are so heavy.
Use the Kindle app on my iPad all the time. No farting around for books to arrive in the post anymore, or clogging up my already overfull bookshelves. Fulfils my childish desire for instant gratification every time. Love it.
yeah i was thinking about getting one of these for good ol mum's christmas this year. how easy are they to operate? would you recommend one of these then?
Just bought one for my eldest for xmas, she's 7 next month and loves to read but get's through books like wild fire at the moment and we can't keep up so hopefully it will be good for her.

I'm toying with the idea of buying her one for Christmas as she's always got her nose in a book, suits me as it averts her attention from me at the PC. So, how much do these e-books cost?

Correct. There's one for the iPhone too (also free) which means you can start reading a book at home on your iPad, and when you continue on your iPhone, say on the train, the book is synched to where you had read up too. You only have to buy the book once and you can read it on all your devices, although you can't share with someone else's device.
I'm going to get one for my next long cycling trip. Half of my luggage was books last time, and I still managed to finish them all off with weeks to still go. A brilliant piece of technology IMO for traveling. Not sure I'd have one for home, mind. Much prefer having the actual book, breaking the spine, folding the pages, and bunging it on a shelf.
