Was a nice touch by Roma fans. YEah, RIP Georgie. Had his faults but forever a 'Norn Iron' legend...

R I P Georgie, never got to play on the world stage, but still a fantastic player. I nearly ended up being a Man U fan because of him being from N.I(MY OLD MAN WORSHIPPED HIM) luckily I was steered away....

And what exactly makes you think that, it's a fairly definitive statement to make.
Did you think about goalkeepers and defenders when you were considering who the best was. Have you got the knowledge to look back ober 100 years and say yes Mr X was the greatest??
Bobby Charlton didn't think he was the best player he played with and he knew a thing or two about football.

actually I do have the knowledge - I watch and read more about the game than is actually healthy and I have an obsession with the history of football. Thankfully in recent years I've learned to look beyond club loyalties and boundaries. Anyone with any football intelligence will tell you Bestie was the best Brit. Law, Charlton and Daglish are up there but George shades it for sheer genius. As George himself once said, 'Pele said I was the Best and that'll do for me'. Bear in mind that Ronaldo who lit up the Premiership was not born in Britain so I stand over my comment about Best being the best player produced by IONA. And whilst we're at it - the best player I've witnessed in the Premiership: Ronaldo and the most influential player in the history of the Premiership: Roy Keane. And I say that as no lover of Man U. I just find when you deal with facts and facts only, more often than not you reach the truth.

CHarltons comments are based on the fact that bestie wasn't unselfish player I would presume. I.e. you make 40 yard runs waiting on a pass only to watch George beat 3 men and score himself. So yes, I'd imagine he was frustrating to play with at times but that doesn't diminish his individual ability in my opinion. ANd as for goalkeepers, big Pat Jennings would be up there as one of best ever produced from the home nations and I believe he'd laugh out loud if you suggested he was better than bestie.
