Can't believe you even asked that Amazing fight, obviously affected Benn big style, fair lay to him for doing that programme......i even had a tear in my eye in parts
Live life to the full and enjoy, try and help people who havn't got as much as you, you never know what tomorrow will bring!!!!
Very powerful documentary had me choked when they met up, id seen a doc on the inncident a few years ago but this gave more from benn's perspective and how much its affected him whereas i'd seen him painted as unsympathetic in the past. Didnt know about McClellan and the dog fighting though lost a little sympathy from me for that...
Yeah I knew about the dog-fighting. Also a story/rumour that he killed one of his own dogs with a spade or summat when it lost a fight.
Enjoyed the programme and Benn showed a lot of class by organising that fund-raising night for McClellan after everything that had been said over the years by his family.
McClellan's trainer was IMO , a complete cowboy , but what happened in the end was just a tragic accident , which nobody should have to take the blame for.
JUst watched it. Superb watch. Love lookin back at sport from 80s to mid 90s as the atmosphere is first class compared to now. Tragedy what happened. Remember at the time thinking I'd no sympathy as mcclellan was hated for the dog stuff an threats he dished out. Watching that though you can't not have sympathy. Two absolute warriors. And in fairness, benn was involved in some wars in his time. GReat watch
