My mums work are upgraging there macs but one went missing so anyway iv got a macbook pro 1 15'' with mac os x 10.4.11 think thats old because iv had a play around but im clueless and everything like itunes/ spotify/ firefox/ torrents needs 10.5 or later anyone know were i can get an upgrade for free and how it works?

click the apple logo top left and lick update software or check for updates. it should download the latest (up to the limit of the machine). dont think its that old, that one. certainly newer than the one i recently had put to sleep.
yeah cheers mate tryed that didnt do much think i need something like snow lepord apparently mind boggels it on itunes for £20 so not much i suppose after a free laptop!

You're running on leopard, I think. You'll need to upgrade to snow Leopard to get stuff to work. After that you can upgrade to Lion, which is the newest version.
Still, the operating systems on Mac are dirt cheap compared to Microsoft's ones, especially when your laptop was free in the first place.

get it paid tightarse! keep updating the software once you have and you'll get a good few years out of it. i had mine seven before it gave up - and even that took a mystery (my mrs, clearly) dropper
