Yesterday, during a cup game between Ajax and AZ Alkmaar, a drunk (and most likely skyhigh) Ajax 'supporter', who later turned out already had a ban for entering stadiums, managed to get onto the playing field and attacked the AZ Goalie, Esteban, from the back. The Goalkeeper, however, defended himself and kicked the guy twice. Only to be sent off later by the referee for violent conduct. The AZ manager Gert-Jan Verbeek called his players inside, as their safety could no longer be guaranteed and they'd rather face the penalty for leaving a match than continuing after those terrible events. The match was then abandoned after 37 minutes.
The reason the 'supporter' gave for his attack of the goalie was 'that he really hated him'.
Puts Dutch football in a bad daylight I think, and such a shame how an idiot like that ruins the evening for half a million people who were watching that game. It's a fucking disgrace.
You seem to have taken the over the top media view that world of Dutch football is about to end after this small incident.
Frankly I've seen it and it's one drunk prick who makes a twat of himself, it has happened a few times over here and it really isn't a big deal. Neil Lennon, Peter Enkleman, Fat Frank Lampard.
Dutch football is admired the world over mate so I wouldn't worry about it. One of the best books about football I ever read 'Brilliant Orange'. Always had an interest in Ajax as a club - as distinct from a soft spot. As a teenager I fancied myself as a football purist/romantic etc and was taken by the way they knocked the ball around the first time I saw then on tv . VVV Venlo are the Dutch side whose results I follow and I look forward to seeing them play in the flesh sometime soon.

Why the interest for VVV Venlo if you don't mind me asking mate? Have to admit, their stadium is something special, Venlo as a city is nothing special tho in my opinion.

The colours. Pure and simple. I'm originally from the county of Kilkenny in southern Ireland and the county's sporting colours are black and amber! The name is quite cool as well.

Well that's the first time i've heard that mate haha, can understand tho. Wouldn't go as far as to say i've got a weak spot for them but their home-support is quite decent for such a small city/small stadium/ small club really. Hope they don't get relegated, prefer them above most of the teams in the bottom of the league
Apparently he did it for a bet over 50 euro's, and he'll most likely have to pay millions in damages to Ajax, the KNVB, get a stupidly large fine, and will have his ban extended to his lifetime.

Congratulations, kid. You've done it.
He must be a bit dumb TBF. I'd never pick a fight with a bloke the size of the keeper who's wearing big gloves and is armed with football studs.

Correct. 19 years old he is.......... Goodluck in the future haha!

He also has a HUGE A.C.A.B. tattoo in those lovely totally-not-cheesy gothic letters, which the entire country knows about now as well. So good luck finding a job, Wesley.
I remember one of the west ham boys running on the pitch and smacking willie Donachie in the mouth
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury
Thing that I always note about these folk that come onto the pitch and attack players, is they never get the better of them. What the fuck do they expect: (often) overweight, pissed-up, unfit supporter vs professional athlete. There's only ever going to be one winner there. If the incident above had happened on a dark street, late at night, I suspect the Dutch goalkeeper would have nearly killed him.
This happens a few times every season in Sweden. It's stupid.
The category of the prosumer commodity does not signify a democratization of the media towards participatory systems, but the total commodification of human creativity
The goalkeeper is from Costa Rica :) Nevertheless, IMO he should kick him on the head, not on the legs... Too bad it happened though, we were the better team at that moment with 1-0 on the scoreboard.

One of my mates did the Lines man at a Notts County game but you could forgive him for A) He was a linesman and shite and B) He was a Notts County Fan with 11 fingers. LOL. He got a 10yr ban , its on that up yer tube thingy. Ads

KNVB has decided that the match will be replayed 11 vs. 11 for the full 90 minutes, starting over with a 0-0 scoreline, without an audience.
The prick got 6 months of jailtime, 2 of which conditional. Also, he has to report at the local police station during each Ajax or Dutch team game for the next two years, during half-time. Furthermore, he has to serve 20 hours of community service that he still had conditionally for previously assualting some guy.
