I see that average Man U side only went and won 5 nil today again today. I've love to be that average. I think City are bringing the best out of United and Fergie domestically this season. If it comes down to a battle of wills I can only see one winner and it's not City. Still, I've said City from the start and think their extra quality will just about see them over the line. I expect Fergie to send some serious barbs Mancini's direction very, very soon...
Chelsea. Are. Shite. When goals were needed today Chelsea had two centre forwards on the pitch who scored their only league goals at home this season in the same game. Against Swansea. To rub salt into the wounds, the only Chelsea player scoring goals recently was subbed. For a striker of the non scoring variety. Mind boggling. How the fuck the club have ambled on with same set of under performing players for the past 5 years I do not know.
Carrick at centre back today as well Colm because both Jones and Smalling were ill and so joined Vidic and Rio on the sidelines. Evans went off at half time too! Got the early goal as well which always helps but it was the terrible sending off decision which was the killer for Wigan. Was never a red card IMO. I still have City as big favourites but lets hope they can be challenged to make it a bit interesting.
As for Chelsea, I didn't see any of the game today but the drop in quality this season as a whole must be a worry. Do you think Abramovich will dig deep again Colm?
Think the chelsea manager has to change his tatics, and bring in a couple of fresh faces in the transfer window ,but really all they are doing is building for next season now, It will be down to the two Manchester clubs and I fancy Utd due to the fact they have plenty of lads who have won it before , I can see city having a bit of a wobble soon , utd have already has theirs.

Didn't see it Colm but mate said we were shocking. we're gonna miss out on the top 4 unless there's a few dramatic signings in jan. Fulham. FFs I know its a Derby but Utd mullered them away ffs.
"The nightmares invading the sleep of Bayern fans involve four horsemen of the Champions League Apocalypse riding towards them. As the faces come into focus, they will recognise Frank Lampard, Cole, Petr Cech and Drogba. All were immense..."

Andy, I'm not one for advocating spending, especially spending for the sake of it. My line has always been 'the right player, for the right position, for the right price'. Unfortunately it's not a line Chelsea have followed much in the past ten years. There's been plenty of spending by Chelsea during the Abramovich era but it hasn't been sensible and it's rarely been used to build and rebuild a squad with strategic buys, like you'd see at United. Frank Arnensen has to shoulder some of the blame. He a had a dream job at Chelsea - well paid with a simple brief - go and get the best young players in the world. He failed miserably and one of the reasons Roman didn't invest in the club from substantially in the club from (07 to Jan 10) was that Arnesen had him convinced the players coming through were good enough. The fact is that after Arnesen's time at Chelsea he did not produce one player good enough for the first time squad (McEcheran on the club's books before Arnesen arrived) shows the man up to be a complete fraud considering he had untold resources to work with, for an academy.
The reality of the current first team squad is that, as a collective, it is simply not good enough to compete over a domestic season with the Manchester clubs or with Real and Barca in Europe. In fact, I fully expect Napoli to send Chelsea packing in the next round. Too many players who are past their sell-by-date, too many average players and a manager who is really struggling to come to terms with the Premiership. Results like today are no surprise to me.
Back to the drawing board. Again.
The reason United mullered them Glenn is because they set about them, went after them and didn't ease up after going in front. It's something AVB could learn from.
I was shocked tonight to see the table , both 100% neck and neck , incredible to think how far ahead City were when I last looked , that's how good Fergie is - 'cause it's not by far the best Utd team I've know .. Chelsea - today clueless , we've beat City on our mini revival , then fuck up against Wigan and Fulham .. today look disjointed uninterested .. Torres did try , ran around a lot , but looked like 3rd divivsion striker .. Mata has gone off the boil , league is easily over for us ...

Interesting that about Arnesen and as you say Colm there has been no end product from his efforts. I know spending big money is not the most romantic way of building a side but the modern game demands it I think (Barca have a great youth system but they spend as much as anyone), particuarly if you want to win leagues and not just compete for a top four place. I can't see Abramovich being happy about just 'competing', he wants the rewards but I just hope he sticks with AVB. The constant merry-go-round of managers is clearly not working, Real Madrid know all about that, and this young bloke needs to be given time IMO or else the appointment of such a young manager was all for nowt. That won't make any sense.
It will be really interesting to see if any teams make any signings in January, clearly Man Ure need to strengthen in defence and I could see Chelsea bolstering their attack.
