Back in Denmark for christmas and it's even worse over here but fooking hell all the people stuck in the airports!! For christ sake, Norway and Sweden experience this every year, the airport crew at gatwick and heathrow must be a bunch of fucking amateurs!! Luckily I got back in time, but my girlfriends stuck in London on her own now. She's going with BA from London City so she might be lucky but still!!
Am flying back for a family birthday in Winsford on the 29th, and if that's not enough I'm going back to London somehow on the 31st. Looks like I might be celebrating nye somewhere on the bloody M6!!!

had a good chat other week and mentioned how unpredictable our weather is and working out if the economy would benefit by preparing things like our roads etc, the cost would be massive and knowing Britain it wouldnt snow for years, therefore more wasted money :(

To be honest the roads is a challenge for the public, it's a recurring problem in Scandinavia as well as the areas to clear are massive (even bigger in UK), but the airports is nowhere near as hard to get going, it's much much colder over here yet the airport is functioning, it is all about the budgets, the airports and companies in UK just gives up and ends up spending money on those crappy £5/day vouchers . If they had prepared it earlier in the yeah they could have had a full-scale plan to get at least 75-80% of planes going without a problem. Feel fcking sick sitting over here while my girlfriend and millions is in tears or fucking blankets at the airport over the prospect of spending christmas on your own away from home

I always think this is the heart of the matter. Everybody wants the road, rail and air network in this country to work perfect all the time but no one wants to pay more for it to happen so we are stuck with what we have NY, Norway and Sweden know for a fact they will get heavy snowfall so it is worth them preparing for it and worth the public paying for it. Our weather is unpredictable at best and give it 4 years with a light snowfall and everyone would be asking the question why the fuck am I paying for those snowploughs, gritters etc sitting doing rap all in the council depots.
EDIT: oh and I hope you get home all right mate.
I'm not really sure of all this pressure, I'm never gonna lose any of my old letters, 'Cause they'll stay with me, Until I can see that I'm no one
Thanks a lot mates. It's very hard to see my girlfriend who's had a rough time in her first months in UK being stuck away from family and friends. I went back to denmark on friday and she's been looking forward to return tomorrow. To say that she's distressed is an understatement, can't imagine how she's gonna feel if shes not able to get a flight before thursday.
At least its a debate in the media, but then again it also was last christmas and obviously nothings happened. As said earlier the roads and rails will probably always be a challenge, but it seems like we're getting colder and colder winters so something should be done. Good for jackets but not so much for transport!

Sorry to hear about your struggle mate. It's true, we are very ill prepared for this kind of weather. "You aint seen nothing yet" springs to mind, I think it will only get worse and worse, something needs to be done by the government.
Well, I'm happy to say that she got home only an hour delayed, talk about luck! The situation still looks bad in Heathrow though. It's the coldest morning in 23 years over here today, minus 24

And of course the urban myth that the weather doesn't affect our Continental friends was finally put to bed this week. Parts of France, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Italy were just as badly affected by this freakish weather as we were. Makes me laugh seeing utter cunts in airports screaming that they want to fly 'now' on TV interviews. The de-icing materials are stuck on the roads and cannot get to the airport but if measures were brought in that would make it easier to deal with snow then these same twats would be screaming about paying too much tax.
Zitat von maclufcglad she got home okay, but remember Heathrow is the busiest airport in the world, so there is a lot more work to be done than most airports
Heathrow is about the 3rd busiest airport in the world to be fair. Still an amazing amount of air traffic though.
