Fuck me! Go on the comparison sites. See moneysavingexpert.com for full list. Spend time on it and you might get a deal. Is that a fancy car? Sounds insane for fully comp, even for a young shaver
Quote by ForQueenAndCountryRight I'm 19..first time driver..anyone know any decent sites for insurance for a decent price?
I've just got an 2002 1.2 Fiat Punto..
best I've seen is 2,700 fully comp from churchill..
There was summat on The One Show tonight Ross about young drivers trying to get insured and the cost. Think they said the average for under 23 year olds was £3,000.
Also they mentioned a few scam sites online so if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
Try to go somewhere like a private insurer in town or something, theres a place by me that searches for you....they do all the price comparison work and if they find you a deal you like you can do it through them !!
none of my mates have paid over £2k, its very much to do with where you live, crime rates etc.
Just changed my car from a diesel Vauxhall astra to diesel BMW and it cost me £15 extra more with just about the same cover,£300 for the year but will get £45 cashback aswell from quidco That was through echoice that came up through compare the market.
I'm afraid that's what you'll be looking at paying if you want to take your own insurance out, it's gone up even more since I passed and that was in 2009.
First year I paid 1750, second, 1100, and this years premium was just over 700 and that's third party fire & theft and I currently drive a Citroen C2,
I've looked at a range of other cars as I'm looking at changing, BMW 1 Series, Seat Ibiza, Fiat Grande Punto, Ford Focus.... all stupid insurance prices for a 20 year old. all coming in around 1500 - 2000 quid.

But thats not at all bad considering its only 3 years after you passed and you'd be driving something worth a lot more with much more power !!
Insurance is a weird business, no two people would ever get the same quote !!

True. It's just a waiting game, you've got to search and search for the right quote, drive the right car, which may be not want you want in the early years of driving but if you keep your head down and behave yourself you'll be glad you did in the future when you can afford to drive the car of your choice.
