Quote by jack5Surely a Welsh team now playing in the Premiership has opened the floodgates?
Why would it? Cardiff for instance have been in the football league for nearly 100 years, won an FA cup and only just missed out on the old division 1 title. Why would it now matter because Swansea are in EPL?
If the old firm were willing to start right at the bottom then I'm sure no one would have an issue with them joining the English system. No one wants either set of bigots to go straight in to the top 4 divisions.
Why wouldn't it? What right do Welsh teams have to play in the English League that Scottish teams don't?
I think including one set of the "bigots" would be quite interesting to be fair. See how good they really are.
Always thought it was odd having two Welsh teams in the league when there were two much more dominant teams from another country north of the boarder.
Quote by Alex DeLargeClearly I am not laughing at the expense of staff who will lose their jobs, Steve.
But yes, I love it. It is a horrible, horrible club surrounded by horrible, horrible people. Give nothing but a bad name to Scotland and the Scottish game. Anyway, I wouldn't be expecting any sympathy from those cunts if the boot was on the other foot. Fuck 'em.

you're right about no sympathy the other way round. Any Gers lads worth their salt will admit that. But glad to see them go out of business? West Ham, Liverpool and the Yids I fucking detest, particularly the latter two. Would I want to see them go out of business? No. Why would I? 6-1 at the lane is one of our greatest ever days. years undefeated against them at '3 point lane'. Beating Liverpool in CL latter stages or cup finals, etc.... If they were/aren't there, that can never happen again.

We've always been there. We had no league system and the football league needed more teams. We haven't suddenly got bored and suddenty expected to walk straight into the top tiers. We've been in the dungeons for years working our way up.

Quote by nefcrangers and celtic won't get in the english league because there is no way the english clubs will vote for it. not now the financial stakes are so high.
The financial stakes for English clubs in the Championship would be far greater with one of the Old Firm in the league. The problem has always been that they would never vote for both clubs being included in one season. Now that Rangers are on the verge of collapse, the door is open for Celtic.
Mark my words - Rangers go into liquidation - Celtic will push harder for the Championship & be made welcome by the English FA
celtic or rangers means less chance for them to get a slice of the big money. it won't happen.

I don't think that your getting my point - its already been agreed by the FA & the clubs in the Championship that they would welcome ONE of the old firm into the Championship, but not both in the seame season. Also one point to note - not one SPL chairman voted to stand in the way of the old firm leaving Scotland, therefore the general concensous must be that the clubs left behind don't see it as a problem.

You Welsh are such hard grafters!!!!
Compared to those lazy Jocks we are. Coming down here, trying to take promotion places.
I think Celtic & Rangers in the PL would create such a buzz , whenever these two come to the Bridge they bring thousands - friendly against Celtic they must have had 4,000 .. I would love to go up to Celtic to watch Chelsea , so think it would be great if they came into our Leagues .. better than the miserly amount Everton , Wigan , or Sunderland usually bring - and sit in silence ..
everton don't go to chelsea because it's laughably expensive - as for the silence, perhaps they were in the adult section? @locomotion - when was this agreed?
oof! it's ludicrous chelsea. everton travel everywhere but clearly there's a point where people think it's just not worth it. especially given the results we tend to enjoy

obviously trying to get NEFC to bite, Steve in fairness, Everton have had a decent support and made a noise anytime I've seen them at home.
Yes, Celtic would bring out the best in our support I think...

i didnt go QPR on saturday either. stayed in the pub while me mates went (the old city arms, hammersmith bridge, pub and bridge fans) then met them after. all said i'd made the right move.
Quote by wilsonzenithFrankly English football can do without the sectarian nonsense that seems, regrettably, to come with the Old Firm. If they, or rather some of their fans, wish to continue living in the Stone Age, leave them to it.
Well said. I'm looking forward to one set of backward idiots singing about dead British soldiers etc etc and the other set of cavemen celebrating the deaths of catholics etc etc.

As stated earlier, it is a completely different kettle of fish. I have absolutely no time for either of the bigot brothers. They are a complete disgrace and they are not what, imho, football is all about. Furthermore, as I said earlier, the majority of half decent young players who comes through the ranks at other SPL clubs get snapped up by them, it's just not a level playing field. So yeah, it is a completely different situation - so I am glad that they are going down the shitter and I would be glad for the other one to fuck off down to England and embarrass themselves down there. Good riddance. Would it mean less money going into the SPL? Of course, but there wouldn't be much significant difference to the money the other SPL teams get as it stands.

This
I would feel exactly the same if I was you.
Having witnessed it on many occasions, i think the EPL should leave well alone!!!
Celtic and the club soon to be formerly known as Rangers need English football more than English football needs them. I'm not convinced they would ever get the necessary support from chairmen up and down the football league pyramid, turkeys don't vote for Xmas. I don't see why well run, ambitious clubs in the different divisions should bend over for the gruesome twosome. However, at the end of the day, money could well prove decisive.
Quote by 1000flashIf Rangers fold then the rest of Scottish football is fucked as well. No TV company or sponsors are going to pay to watch Celtic win the league by 20 points every year.
as opposed to both of them being 20/30 point ahead of every other club
what no one gets is, supporters of every other club outwith the bigot brothers dont give a fuck, we have had the life sucked out of us by the big two, everyone starts the season hoping to get third place, whats the point. No tv money big deal we cut our cloth to suit, wether were paying 200PW or 2000pw if the league is competetive then folks will still go along to watch their team. sky has killed football anyway
as things stand steven davis and the goalkeeper chap get roughly in a week what the entire aberdeen matchday squad get in a month and theyre probably the 2nd/3rd best paid team after the oldfirm. so no one has much sympathy for a club overspending a million + a month
