Quote by RhysAlways loved Bilbao because of their Cantera policy. Was a pleasure to see them beat Manchester United.
I think it is a bit more open these days than it was , good policy all the same though. Hats off to them they play some excellent football, not many teams come to OT and play like they did in the 1st leg.
Yeah a little bit more open than it was but they only employed basques until recently. I've been thinking about trying to get out their next season Daf, last season before new ground opens.

Ah right, didn't know that. I'll have to get cracking.
Still getting over seeing United destroyed in both legs. I'm not sure Fergie took the first leg too seriously, he wouldn't have started Jones & Giggs in central midfield otherwise, but I think he was shocked with how Bilbao took United apart at Old Trafford. He put out a better side last night but they still couldn't deal with the way Bilbao played. It's been said many times that the blueprint to beating this particular United side is to press their defence and midfield and get them playing aimless long balls but it is easier said than done by less talented sides because United can be deadly on the counter with their pace. It's also difficult to have the stamina to maintain the pressing game for 90 minutes. Bilbao are talented and fit enough to do both and they were outstanding.

Their fans are a class apart too.
Good call. Their fans were top order as well as you say. Ironically, for me, last nights events could be the death knell for Mancini as it's catastrophic IMO if City are trophyless this season. They should have really gone after the Europa league as I think even reaching the final may have been enough to retain his job. Now, if (when) they lose the league, he's a gonner. Just hope they don't bring in 'The Special One' as Mourinho + Citys money = BAD NEWS.....

Quote by mkj1972Real gulf in class between the Premiership & La Liga at the moment.Embarrassing again feel sorry for all the cockneys that traveled out to Bilbao.
Agreed, if Utd are top of the premiership and beat like they were, it shows how poor the rest of the teams under United really are concidering this is the worst United side in the last 5 years at least.

Some do let themselves down with silly statements like that when they know they have the same amount of out of town support themselves.
can see this bibao side being torn apart in the summer , they have a few great players an will no get loads of big bids in the summer, la liga seems to be miles apart in class to the '' greatest league in the world'' the premiership.
