A very harsh lesson for the lad but if there is a positive to come out of it he is young enough to learn from it and hopefully get on with his life when the dust setgles.

9 years is a fucking long time....how old will be be ? 26 ? Its been hanging over his head for a year, he'll be 26 when it's over and he did it when he was 16, christ.
Gotta agree with the 9 year ban thing, its an absolute joke. 2 years would have been more than enough. I reckon they just tried to send out a message that they are taking a tough stance, like they've been doing for the past 30 years, with it getting tougher and tougher.
They had me on camera running in a pub in a brawl with some bouncers after a pre season friendly, Got 21 months plus 6 year ban, they dragged the sentencing out until just before the world cup in south africa to make an example, if it had happened on non matchday would of got a bit of community service if that, but if your into that way of life you know the risks.
