Quote by Ed68I agree the quality is better in the Prem.
I felt more as a fan when we get promoted from the old Div 3 than I did when we qualified for Champs league even though Champs league is a bigger deal overall.
I suppose it's all relative to specific clubs to be honest. I think what makes the run in such a big deal for me is the fact that two seasons ago we were in the championship, even the start of this season our goal was to break into the top 10 so to be where we are now is quite a big step in a short space of time.
As much as I'm not a fan of Pardew the job he has done at Newcastle is simply outstanding imho, his signings have been superb and the team spirit appears excellent. One of my best mates has been a ST holder at SJP for aslong as I've known him ( getting on for 25 yrs ) and he is as surprised as anyone this season, he expected them to falter when the two centre halves were injured. He openly admits at times they have played some breath taking football. Theres been a lot of bigging up Lambert and Rodgers this season for their achievements ( and rightly so ) but for me Pardew has done as well if not better. It would be brilliant if Newcastle made the CL.
On the CL debate, I'm one of the old school who thinks that it should be the old European Cup format, ie knockout and the Champions only but Im not taking anything away from teams that are in it.
I think graham Carr the Newcastle scout should take credit also as it was him who recommended tiote, cabaye,Ben arfa, cisse and a few others he has done a brilliant job

Yeah, a huge and unexpected step.
Got to say was impressed with the discipline of the defence and midfield playing two flat banks of four right through the game when we played you.
I said to a Man U fan they could have problems when they face you the following week and was laughed off.
