I must be getting old (40) as I am starting to suffer from Heartburn and stomach acid after drinking lager , it's started to give me a sore throat too as it rises up during the night and burns.
had a couple of cider's over the weekend and it was fine, no problems. so it must be the lager!
any other lads have this problem ?

Yeah I do mate. Never knew what heartburn was until about three years ago and now I get it regular. It's got to the stage that I never go anywhere now without a couple of rennies on me. Mine isn't brought on just by drinking it happens with food too. I haven't had the throatburn for a while though but that is really nasty. If the burning throat lasts for a long tome then it might be worth getting it looked at.

I have took some Zantec over the weekend and it worked a treat the burning throat stopped almost right away. I have read a bit about it and it says.......change your lifestyle....lose weight....reduce drinking and stop smoking....all sound advice really.
Never really affected me up until about 6 months ago... I think I have may have to find a new drink like bitter , guiness or cider!

Binned that lager years ago, always felt like I'd had a good kicking in the morning after with the amount of chemicals that put in it. Switched to good old apple juice, I'll worry about the pickled liver later, for now I'll just enjoy.
have suffered for 20 years with it. I take Losec on and off. It's the daddy for it fixing it longter term but think it's prescriptive. My stomach produces too much acid - that's the underlying cause of mine. I find drinking loads and loads of water every day helps immensely. Also, I find cider would give me roaring heartburn. What I tend to do is take a tablet or a gulp of gaviscon before I go to bed if I've been on the beer and next day it's fine. Worth getting checked though just to be sure it's not an ulcer.

very common this .. its all due to the brewin . basically to many chemicals and gasse's in lager wich then your stomach produces more acid then you then get bloody heartburn . worked with a few dutch and german guys few years back and they refused to drink our lager statin there's to many gasse's in them .. carling its a terrible lager ..few tips thou peppermint tea works wonders after a night out . or if you have stomach problems see your doc and get a course of lansprozole.these work wonders .. i switched to ale's and bitter find i dont struggle followin day also if i do drink lager i try to pace my self and have a few coca cola's i find this settles my stomach .as such .to be honest old age creeps up on ya..

I've got these on a repeat prescription and they've sorted me out no end. I'm only 24 and not in bad shape, but have previously dealt with really rough heartburn daily.

That's the ones I meant above. They used to be called losec. Good job, eh. I only need them infrequently now. Short term fix nothing beats Gaviscon. Like throwing a blanket over it...:)

Another vote for Omeprazole here. Stops it dead, was on one a day but now down to one now and then... Suffered chronic heartburn to the point where I felt I was having a heart attack. Mostly due to lifestyle choices though, spicy food and red wine were my downfall... Cider and bitter I felt were worse than lager btw. Smoking also aggravates it.
