I'm hoping one of the American members on here can help me out. I sent a letter to the USA last Thursday via AirSure and am currently getting a message on the USPS website saying that the package arrived at the ISC, New York on Sunday night. Does this mean that it's yet to clear customs? My worry is that it'll be held at the ISC for a number of days/weeks when I really need it to get to the recipient (it contains documents pertaining to my wife's UK visa) as soon as possible. If you could offer any advice on how long it's likely to take that'd be great.
When the message "arrived at ISC" means it is going through customs process... which in my experience means it will leave for its destination within a day or so after that message first appeared. Provided there is no problems with the package/letter.

Thanks, I gave USPS a call and they confirmed that. unfortunately they can't confirm whether the letter has left the processing center and is on its way to DC or not (even though I paid for a tracking service!).
generally in your experience how long does it take for postage from the UK? I've read airsure can take weeks online but I'm hoping those are horror stories that don't happen too often

USPS can't track a package/letter in the ISC department only when it is released and scanned at the arriving location or a connecting station should you be able to track again.
Package sent 1st class through USPS takes about 4-6 days but it seems fast going to the UK than the other way around. A package to me coming from UK takes about 10-12 days on average. This is from the time it is posted to being delivered.
Being a letter that time should diminish some what. Maybe 5-7 days tops.

Thanks mate, I sent it 6 days ago but I doubt it left the UK until last friday so it's really only been 5. Hopefully it'll get there soon and I can stop panicking!

No problem. I know it can be nerve racking but things are sorted pretty quickly. Once it is dispatched from ISC you are looking at 2-3 days tops to be delivered.
