Just been watching the news about the whole Jimmy Carr thing. I didn't realise he was only paying as little as 1%, which is according to Cameron, immoral. But how many people would pay only 1% if they could? Anyway, how do you pay only 1% tax?
i would if i had the option and i was on a good salary. 50% tax is ridiculous. Other than celebrities, a lot of the high earners in this country actually work their socks off. Imagine working 7 day weeks and only getting paid for 3 and half of them. Imagine every time you bought something you had to actually earn double - so to buy a £100 worth of shopping youd have to earn £200!!
I've read articles about this Jimmy Carr sernario. People are comparing paying 1% tax (totally legally) to benefit fraud. In my opinion they are totally different. How can a high paid surgeon, for example, who saves lives on a daily basis and works stupid hours for the benefit of the greater good, be compaired to a fat lazy tracksuit wearing bastard who cant be arsed getting a job and so pretends he has a bad leg?

doesnt the 50% tax rule only come into account having earned over x amount (150k) ? its an abuse of position or of class, finding loopholes in the tax system to avoid paying tax(for the greater good, or at least you would like to think) in the same respect some 'fat apparently lazy' tracksuit wearing bastard' thinks he can put a few quid in his empty pockets by saying he has a bad leg, he takes the piss too.
tax avoidance costs far more than benefit claimers/fraud im pretty sure.
reached for the secret too soon, cried for the moon.
I think 50% tax is over £100,000. So if you make £110,000, you will get taxed 50% on that £10,000 so pay £5k in tax. Not sure if that is 100% right but I am quite sure...

Because both refrain from contributing an allotted "fair share" to society? In fact, if you remove all the needless emotive descriptors (saves lives / fat lazy bastard) you've added, the former; "The High Earner", is worse - his tax avoidance is not necessary for a capitalist society to function, the latter; broadly "The Unemployed", is.

Zitat von Soul Bhoy aus RE: Would you pay 1% income tax?I wouldn't. Always pay your taxes in full. The HMRC are good cunts and I hope they fully pursue anyone who tries to avoid paying taxes.
When I moan about my taxes I always think about my grandparents getting treated/kept alive by the NHS/the school which educated me well enough so that I could go to a decent university. it sounds like a lot of sentimental bollocks but I've done pretty well out of this country so for me tax avoidance/evasion wouldn't be an option I'd consider.

Incorrect that should read .... ask the Germans how detrimental Greece's tax avoidance is
Both statements are correct. I think we all would be a bit pissed off if our tax money was spent in another country propping up their public services while the pay fuck all.
Tax avoidance fucks up the less well off more and the Greek governments can't blame any one else for the shit they are in.
The Germans with others have been paying for all the public services in Greece for years now. The Greeks are masters of tax avoidance and they used to think it was OK to pay nothing and the rest of Europe can bail them out all the time. The Greeks have been spending billions they had never collected in tax, borrowing huge sums of money to keep it going and the Germans quite rightly said you can fuck off now and get your accounts in order.
We all use public services and they cost money. We all have to pay or everything becomes private and chargeable. Great if you are well off but the poor would suffer greatly.
