Take it he's off then ? Where ? Any club would break the bank for him , City , Chelsea , Barca or Real ? Shows to me Arsenals clear intention is not to win trophies , but amintain good book-keeping ?
Well run club IMO but if you sell or have to sell your best players there is only one way the club is going.
If they are cashing in it's a big mistake but if has said he is going at the end of the season it makes good sense to sell now and get the most for him.
not sure that's the case. having met with Wenger & Gazidis he decided he wont be signing a contract .. so I deduce they've told him no big money signings will be coming in , as RVP wants to be winning trophies , just my view on it all ...
Claiming he's not signing as he isn't happy about transfer policy etc then rubbing his hands thinking of the extra grannies he can afford when he gets a huge pay rise?
Or does he genuinely believe that the club isn't going in the right direction?
I'm not suggesting both circumstances are the same and think RVP's 'gone public' so that he forces the move. I'm just mentioning another instance where most people felt a player had to go and the fans would never forgive him.
think though in RVP' s case he hasn't won a trophy for a long time , so genuinely wants to be challenging for one , and if Arsenal aren't gonna bring in some big players to challenge then he wont sign a contract , it's not like he's handed in a request , nothing like Rooney did ..
RVP's statement smacks of a player trying to force himself out this summer as i suspect the club said he wont be sold if he doesnt sign new contract. So he'll probably get his way and we'll sell to the highest bidder, probably Citeh again.I'd love the club to take a stand and not sell and he can fuck off next year but wont happen now.
99% of all Professional Footballers are just mercenarys interested in maximising their income whilst they are still professionals. They dont give a flying fuck about the people they kiss the badge in front of. All this I just want to win things is bollocks, theres 200k's worth a week of other reasons why he wants to go.
Van Persie signed in May 2004,before his 38 starts this season he'd played a total of 111 games in 7 years. Theres no way he will be fit for most of next season anyway,so take the cash, move on,thanks for last season Robin, but thats basically it.
Eye's right, skin back tight, bollocks to the front, we're the boy's who make more noise when we're on the cunt, we're the riders of the night, and we'd rather fuck than fight, we're the riders of the Clock end Highbury
Steve: I agree - I'm not saying it's the same as Rooney other than it may look 100% certain he'll leave but you never know in football.
Theherd: Again, agree with what you say. I'd love to say my teams players love the club etc but bottom line is money and possible trophies for most if not all of them. Re RVP: One of the biggest criteria in player recruitment nowadays seems to be players who have few injuries - based on this he shouldn't be high on anyone's list though.
far as the money is concerned , say you are a shelf stacker .. Asda pay £5 an hour , or Tesco pay £7 an hour .. who would you work for ? footballers are no different , there is a short playing career span so you'd want to earn as much as you can .. some players stay loyal , not all are mercenaries , but you can't blame him for wanting the club to win a trophy , it's been a long while since Arsenal did ..
but like you say , no player is bigger than the club , and at Arsenal it doesn't seem to matter who goes there , the same attractive football gets played ..
Thing with RVB is he is clearly not bothered where he wins any trophies so has no loyalty to his present club. The trophy thing may have some importance to him but I would think it's the size of the pay check that matters most. Arsenal are not known as big payers compared to other clubs and they can not compete with the other big guns in the money market.
As said if some one offers a pay rise for the same job you would have to have a good look at it. In this case though he is actively seeking a transfer or doing a Rooney, they should sell and cash in now or make him a better offer.
i dont think the salary thing is right in these cases. if i got an extra £5k a year it would be a life changing amount for me - id be able to afford a bigger flat, say. a player going from, say millwall to norwich like steve morrison did, is going to improve his dough by a massive amount, so you can see why he'd do it. a fella like van persie doesnt really need to go from (im guessing) £100k a week to £300k a week to have a great life. he's been earning huge money for his whole adult life. he's earned more than he'll ever need, so i reckon he does want to win things. the extra money is obviously a nice bonus though
Time to sell RvP if he wants to go - hopefully get £15 to 20 million for him. Would be good business as hes 29 and only one season left on his contract as long as Wenger gets the funds to invest back into the squad. Need a proven goalscorer. Will be up there challenging next season.
Wadey discount stiil okay mate.
Well, I tell them there's no problem Only solutions

nice one D
On a serious note though, if arsenal get get £20m + for him then its good buisness imo, taking into accunt his age and his past injuries
difficult one,on one hand he had a great season last season, one of the best strikers in the world on that form? but it was his first season fit,had seven before where he averaged about 20 games,i do understand his concern about the club direction but is it a genuine concern?again i dont know but it is moving towards him not being able to stay by criticizing the manager i think they would take 25 mil if someone offered it,and at 29 with his injury record it may be good business,if they were going to invest it in new players ,but im not sure they would
