I'm biased, having supported United for the last 40 years, but the man is a God in my eyes. Simple as that.
Yes, there's lots of you who describe him as a prick, ungraceful etc but you'd soon ditch those thoughts if he managed your team.
I know a guy who has done a lot of work for him over the last 5 years and has got to know him and his missus Cathy. My friend tells me that you couldn't meet a more genuinely nice fella than SAF. He describes him as "welcoming, warm, charming, extremely generous and down to earth".
I met him once on the day of a match on Charles Bridge in Prague. 6 of us out early in the morning, trying to walk off the excesses of the night before and this little fella (he's tiny in real life) in glasses and a flat cap approached us telling us to "take in the surroundings, the architecture & everything it's bloody wonderful..." He then told us a bit of team news, shook our hands & then scarpered as quickly as he had approached us.
Weird, but one of them moments that you'll never ever forget.
Journalists loathe him because they cant get close to him. He hates them and bans them from his press conferences because they write shit about him and his players. It's a game of love & loathe but with only one winner.
He does a shit load for charities that gets kept quiet and loads of younger managers are happy to make known to the world that they've had advice from the great man. Not many managers dislike him apart from that loon Benitez (and he was then made to look the twat that he is).
He has given me some of the best moments of my life: winning the league 1993 after a 26 yr drought, Champions League Final in 1999 & countless other great memories and I'm forever in his debt. Yet there are a small percentage of United fans who dislike him.
I'm very concerned about what happens to my club once he goes.

I what respect?
The dealings with the horse or the fact that he publicly didnt oppose the takeover?
He did oppose the takeover and then he didn't.
Did he?
A lot has happened in my life since 2005 but I cant recall Ferguson opposing any takeover at any any time.
I'm happy for you to provide proof and prove me wrong though.
You may be getting yourself confused with David Gill who (at first) publicly declared that the takeover wouldn't be good for MUFC, then backtracked and accepted the job as Chief Exc under the Glazers.

Ok I must have imagined it then, strange that people I know who are Manchester united fans remember the same thing.

Like I said pal a lot has happened in the last 7 yrs & I'm happy to be proved wrong.
I feel rather let down that Fergie called the Glazers 'great owners' when in fact they are nothing more than verminous parasites. I didn't expect him to slate them, although I'd have loved it if he did, he should have simply kept quiet about them and answered with 'no comment' if asked about them.
With regards to football matters he is out there on his own as a manager but he does have a blind spot when it comes to midfield players in his old age.

Thats a tough one.
He was obviously asked a question & couldn't win with whatever answer he gave.
Even 'no comment' or a refusal to answer would've set the press into overdrive and give them licence to print more bullshit than usual.
Nah don't agree mate. Nothing tough about it. What them scumbags have done to MUFC is nothing short of immoral.
Not one penny.
So what should he have said?
Admittedly 'great' was probably the wrong choice of word.
I'm not sure he was directly asked if the owners were good or not, I can't remember exactly but he shouldn't insult the intelligence of United fans who were following United through thick and thin before Fergie arrived at OT by calling the very people who have sucked the club dry as 'great'. Anyway, I'm not getting into this on here.
