Anyone living in an hard water area where their Washing Machine gets clogged up with Limescale might, instead of using Calgon Tablets (around £3.00 a box), just add a cup of vinegar to their machine.
Put it on the Hottest wash setting and wash away. Do this once a month and Limescale shouldn't be a problem.
Will save some cash as well.

Just out of Curiosity, what does Calgon taste like?

Is it white vinegar you are using, or the malt stuff that I put on jellied eels?

White mainly but I guess any vinegar would do.

Iove Balsamic, so me I'd stick to the cheap Vinegars.
30 yr old Balsamic in my Washing Machine, tears in my eyes!

But your using more water on an empty wash, and more electricity putting it on the hottest cycle

Probably more than a single calgon tablet anyway

Ya but u only doing the Vinegar wash once a month.
Hard Water Areas u have to put Calgon Tablets in with everwash.

here's my little tip for housewives corner......

put 1/2 a lemon in a bowl of water and stick it in microwave for a few mins on full power.

then all the crud on the inside of the microwave wipes off very easily with a damp cloth.

My wife would never allow it to get to the crud stage..

I'm in East London.
Water is so hard here it ridiculous.
Kettle, Sink, Iron and Washing machine affected big time...
Water doesn't taste nice either.

I have wife and two kids.
Rarely a day goes by when we don't put a wash on.
Calgon tablets are not cheap and get thru a box in no time.
