4 of us are heading up from Leicester at the weekend for the Wednesday match and was looking for a few tips....
Were staying in the City Centre so will park up somewhere near the hotel. Looking for some chilled out pubs/bars in town (not necessarily football pubs) for a quiet drink before heading out to Hillsborough.
Whats the best way to get to the ground?
Any tips for bars on a Saturday night in Sheffield? Dress codes etc....
No dress code if with moi :) Standard shit mate, depends what want, town drinking or real ale, Division st finish @ Washington, not a bad move, avoid West st, Kelham Island for nice selection of beers 4 mins from city centre, shame not down Friday as you could have checked my new night out. Division st aint that bad, good views, not much trouble, just enter two by two, usual city centre shit, Eccleshall rd bit more classy but students back and too pompous for me, like a bit of rough. Bars pm me and maybe able to let doormen know your around.
personaly think you cant go wrong drinking on division street, pretty chilled out.....kelham island you want real ale
tram to hillsborough dropa you off a short walk from leppings lane
dress code? stone island might see you turned away from most gaffs...though i rarley booze in town anymore.....last time i was in own it was full of scruffy cunts!
You can get on the tram on West Street, it runs parallel to Division St so very easy to find. Just walk on west st away from city centre to tram stop, sure there'll be a few Leicester doing the same thing
Not sure what's on this weekend. As far as late bars go, Sheffield is pretty useless. If you fancy a proper rave however head to Dirty Little Secret in Shalesmoor

Yeah just what the lads above have said, Division Street is usually a top shout. Can also get the 52 bus from West Street by the tram which is a bit cheaper, up to you. If I was about i'd have a pint with ya but i'm Edinburgh during the day.

Yeah cheers Jon, you said, shame that. We're then heading up to Leeds for the Tuesday night game as well.

Let me know if you're out around 12 as that's when my train gets back into Sheffield, i'll come for a pint if you're still out.
Sorry to bump this but didn't want to start a new thread. I've got a few hrs wait in Sheffield tomorrow evening, any decent pubs near sheffield train station? Will try to do about 3 pubs. Cheers.
Cant beat the Tap which is actually in the station itself, Also just up the road is the Showroom, independent cinema and nice bar atmosphere. If you want a bit of rough ask for Penny Black, worth sticking your head in if feeling dandy.
