Good ? Bad ? Issues with it ? Usually run MacAfee , but my new laptop had Norton for two months on it , find it bit difficult to navigate with , and keep getting PC issues message about firewall & virus scan .. Thoughts ? Experiences with Norton ?
I think in years gone by Norton was renown for slowing down your PC. Treated myself to a new PC Christmas and it was recommended I use Norton with windows 8, feared the worst but no issues here.
seems to be ok , but bottom right corner , have a flag with red cross , no matter what I do I can't resolve the issues .. Do you need to manually do scans or updates ? or do they do them itself ?

Get rid of Norton off your computer. Then launch the CD out of the window, preferably onto the road.
Then, install Microsoft Security essentials for free.
Norton acts like a virus, opening and running loads of things you don't need, and slowing your computer down. You need to eliminate any trace of it, by removing anything with Norton or Symantec in it from the control panel.
A tip to speed your computer up is to type 'msconfig' (no speech marks) into your run box on the start menu, then look at the startup tab. You will see a list of programs that open when you start your PC. Untick all but the essential ones. Ta-da!
I run Avast Free security - I have had it on every pc and laptop i have owned, Also my Brother who works in IT swears by it...Never ever had a problem with Avast security..Everything is caught and updated on a daily basis..
Do not pay for security on PC etc...There is free ones out there that are better.
also make sure that you only have one anti virus system on your machine! as has been recommended, windows security essentials does the job and is free.
