I think a lot of teams such as Grimsby, Luton, Hereford and yourselves have this misconception that we have been bank rolled to the win promotion and it's simply not true - Yes we have a millionaire chairman but his contribution has been on a par with what the independant supporters club has generated and club's commercial back staff have. He doesn't pay the wages, his ethos is the club must survive on the gates we have and this is what we have done. He helped land Jolley for us, which was a massive boost but so what?
It pisses me off that so many people wrote County off this year, if you read your message boards and Grimsby and Luton's and the other ex football league clubs who think it's their divine right to piss the conference every year, Newport are a tin pot club with no fan base and don't deserve it and blah blah blah.
County deserved promotion and we won it fair and square and no mis-arseing from Andy Morrel or Mickey Thomas - both who wrote us off and refused to pay respect to our victory - will change that.
I'm glad we proved so many wrong and I'm sorry to say that I'm glad it was Wrexham that we beat because out of all the ex league sides it is your fans that I find the most arrogant towards their status.
I have plenty of time for those that are gracious in defeat and for those that have been through thick and thin and hope you get back to the football league. But as far as the rest are concerned, those that thought we didn't have a chance and who thought their 5 year's and counting absence from the football league eclipsed what it meant to the people and fans of Newport, well I have no sympathy for them and it was sweet watching them flood out of Wembley in their droves.

Good luck for next season.
I think its more that Wrexham fans are impatient for success, the last 5-6 years has been terrible and we just want to get back in the football league. Morrell tried to sign Jolley but we didn't have 25k to get him or his supposed 2k a week wages.
That chance for Ormerod should have been dispatched, he tried to break the net. You took your chances, we didn't. I didn't think it was a very good game, and you didn't play much football but you took your chances and that's that.
It was kind of poetic justice that Ormerod had a mare - I remember seeing him score a hat trick for Blackpool against us in the FA cup when he was just coming through as a prominent striker - we had drawn 2 each at Bloomfield Road and had them back in a replay. We were in the Southern League premier then.
I thought you were the better side in the first half and created some good chances, although we should have taken the lead just before the break but Marshall made a good save.
Second half was more even and thought we just about shaded it - I think as the game went on we looked the more likely to score.
There were a few heart in mouth moments and I was convinced you'd grab an equaliser even though we scored so late - to see the second go in for an unbelievable feeling, I'm truly fucked today!
Yeah that chance at the end of the first half for you should have been a goal. Nevermind, its one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced. Wrexham Chester next season. Good luck in LG 2

And to you pal - the prospect of Chester should be somewhat of a minor consolation!
