Ive recently sold my marine set up , it was a pain keeping on top of it tbh . Regular water testing and with it been a small tank its harder to look after .
Mine was 49l and that was classed as small for marine fish .
I would keep fresh water in it for your lad , alot easier to look after and cheaper than a marine set up .
Have a look at ultimatereef forum before you buy anything or saltybox forum
Yeah I wouldn't venture into marine yet, that pics just to show the type of tank I've been looking at. It's about 100l, which should be ok for the cichlids I'm wanting to put in it. The small tank will stay as it is, with a couple coldwater fish, and plants in.
I've been keeping tropical fish for about 18 months or so.. Started with a 40 litre that's now in the kitchen with 5 fish in it.. & got myself a 112 litre 3 months ago & still stocking that as we speak.. I do a 10% water change every week & clean the fillters every month & everything seem's to be going well for me..
I've been told that overstocking cichlids helps to ease aggression, as they can't focus on one fish to bully. Also to over filter to cope with waste, ie 200 litre per hour filter on a 100 litre tank? Didn't know they'd tolerate anything else in the tank as well. Thanks

Looking good what fish do you have and what's going in the big tank?

The 40 litre has 3 Platys, 1 Male Siamese Fighter & 1 Corydora.. I'm slowly over the next 3 months stocking the 112 litre with compatable non aggressive Tropical Fish at the moment it has 1 Pleco, 1 Male Siamese Fighter, 2 Corydoras , 4 Rasboras & 4 Diamond Tetras & I'm adding a school of 10 Neon Tetras this weekend..
