From what I could see the City fans behaved themselves & a banner in support of the 96 was in the away end.if "fans" did do what you say you did they should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't agree with it at all but it's not like Liverpool don't sing about Munich, Matthew Harding etc. Every club has idiots.
When you say Liverpool it sounds like you are tarring us all with the same brush, agreed every club has idiots & that's too tame a term to be honest I would call them brain dead morons.
Nothavinit has already covered the Chelsea angle for yesterday but here's my tuppence worth. @MKJ1972 Personally, I am sympathetic to Hillsborough. Phil Scraton is a Prof in my work and I've spoken to him about it all. And the Government cover up is one of the biggest scandals in the history of Britain. Shocking from the cunts that run this country although I get less surprised by this really given the recent cover ups for Jimmy Saville and Cyril Smith for example but back to the point. I'd prefer our support observed the silence.
But an observation I'd offer is that not everyone shares that same opinion and many fans from back then I've spoken to have their own views on Hillsborough - and I'm even not talking Man U or rivals as such. Lads who regularly saw Liverpool come to town, had certain experiences and maybe take some convincing that your support had nothing to do with it. Your club was also involved in Heysel, which, comes across as a very distant second to Hillsborough. Why is that? Add in that the younger generation of fans maybe have less respect for something that happened before their time (less respect in general maybe?)....and perhaps Liverpool fans penchant for Munich songs when it suits, or bricking Man City coaches like yesterday all contribute to some using Hillsborough silence/respect as a way to retaliate. But then the media certainly seems to have their favourites when it comes to clubs. Our support got pillared the other week - right wing nazi salutes in Paris whilst running riot (apparently) yet comments Ive seen from people who went said bar some knocking over a shoe stall, it was much ado about nothing.
Yet I'll offer up this one. When your lot was playing the final in Istanbul, Talksport were covering it. Some of yours were openly on boasting in interviews hours before KO of having never paid to get into a final - and having been to every one of the european cup finals. Talksport response? laugh/funny at those scouse scalllies. Now we both know jibbing still goes on among your lot and yet given the history, I'd have thought that this practice would be as much despised as buying The Sun given you've twice been involved in situations where fans were crushed? As for talksport, many would see their response as the typical media reaction to Liverpool.....like failing to report it when your support do something unsavoury and given SKYs blanket coverage yday, amazingly this seemed to escape their coverage.....

You have some valid points however the hysel tragedy is never forgotten & the main culprits were caught & did time for it.39 people lost there lives tragically & I don't condone what happened however I know the year before when LFC reached the final in Roma & beat them in there own backyard after the game fans were slashed & stabbed so maybe some fans felt payback was due.again I stress I do not condone there actions that night in hysel.
Seems to me every club has it's bunch of mindless morons & to me kicking somebody's head in because they support a different team to you is pretty moronic. As for the dickheads who bricked man city's bus they deserve to be caught & named & shamed & sent to prison.
On a final note I hope the families of the Hillsborough disaster get the justice they deserve the fans that died that day were not thugs & hooligans just decent men women & children who went to a football match & didn't deserve to die RIP THE 96
I apologise for the spelling that's predictive text for you,as for the article you found that is one viewpoint.others may see things differently. To be fair the article is spot on with certain points others it is not,but I'm not going to get in to that.we would be here all night. I am not defending what happened & I hope it never happens again. Nobody should go to a football match & lose there life regardless of who they support.

mate, I'm not having a go at the families. Far from it. They've had the courage to fight for 25 years against a British Establishment thats capable of the dirtiest cuntish tricks. Fair play and they've basically cleared their families names now. I know they weren't thugs and they were normal people. As I've said, what successive Govts did in trying to bury this and make it go away, is a big dark stain in the history of Britain. I hope they get whatever it is that'll help ease their pain.
Your point about Rome underlines what I was saying about experiences shaping peoples reactions. Peoples experiences against your lot over years has shaped how they feel about Hillsborough basically because the Hillsborough campaign is now inextricably linked to LFC. That means, unfortunately, not everyone will adhere to the minutes silence for reasons I mentioned before amongst others.
My point about Heysel is simply about memorial. Will the Hillsborough memorials cease if policemen are jailed? I thought not given it's not only about justice but about memorial. I believe LFC will continue to have memorials year on year irrespective of whether people are jailed, apologies are given, compo given, whatever the justice is that's served. Therefore, how come Heysel doesn't get a similar memorial? I understand Liverpool do something each year to remember but it's low key at best - nowhere near on a par with Hillsborough. Now, that may well be currently because of the justice element and the 'fight' that is associated with Hillsborough and I get that. But once the fight is finally over, will Heysel and Hillsborough share similar billing by LFC? I doubt it. Will players be asked to attend a Heysel memorial every year? I doubt it. Perhaps its because LFC feel a bit uneasy about Heysel. After all, your club originally tried to blame Chelsea right wing support for it - something my generation and older don't forget. There appears an element of denial by LFC with Heysel. A high profile remembrance would be an admission of guilt in some respects of the fans actions. maybe they want to avoid that but all it does is provide ammunition (or maybe valid counter arguments?) for fans of other teams to turn their nose up when having their teams games start 7 minutes late, minutes silences every year, etc...etc... when the club behind it all seem to have no interest when it's about 39 Juventus fans.
I understand the point about moronic and kicking peoples heads in. And that must seem totally alien to any normal young lads now (who don't spend their time watching Green St.....) but tbh, the truth is, it was how it was. It was the culture. Unless you were a kid or pensioner, football always meant the possibility of a row. Even in NI which had little casual scene going on, it didn't stop supporters trying to get at each other on match days. Times change. Hence now you have places like here where lads who once faced each other across terracing now provide a critique of how well each other dresses
Finally, as I said before, we're the easy pantomime villain especially in modern football. If you don't believe me, watch for the press reaction the first time there's a story of Chelsea lads jibbing into a game......
