I think in those days it were down to your league position, the top 4 teams qualified for the UEFA cup ?!?!?

The winners of the old first division went into the European Cup ( champions league) only one club per country went in in those days.. the rest went into uefa cup..guessing west brom must of finished in the top 5 one of them years to qualify as remember seeing them in euro action.
